Arpaio: “Obama’s Illegitimate Presidency”

(Aug. 1, 2025) — On Friday at approximately 8:30 PM EDT, former Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joseph Arpaio added to his growing number of X posts in which he alleged the “deep state” to have aided in propelling an “illegitimate” Barack Hussein Obama into the highest office in the land.

In Friday’s post, Arpaio claimed left-leaning law firm Perkins Coie and its founder, Robert Bauer; Bauer’s wife, Anita Dunn; and Joe Biden’s first presidential chief of staff, Ron Klain, are tied to Obama’s White House tenure and have a “long history of scandals against the American people.”

In August 2011, Arpaio authorized the launch of a criminal investigation into the “long-form” birth certificate image posted on the White House website in April that year and almost immediately declared a forgery by several experts.

What became a 5+-year undertaking led by former detective Mike Zullo resulted in two forensic analysts, working independently and without knowledge of the other, agreeing with Zullo’s conclusion that the image could not have been derived from a real, paper birth record.

While early, credible reports said Obama was born in Indonesia or Kenya, his birth narrative changed to say he was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu after he launched his presidential campaign in February 2007.

At least one report states his birth hospital as Queens Medical Center, while most others, and Obama himself, claim he was delivered at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, formerly Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital.

No hospital anywhere has confirmed Obama’s birth, and then-Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, having pledged to locate Obama’s original birth record to settle what became a very public matter as Obama sought re-election abandoned his effort several weeks later.

It was Arpaio’s intent, Zullo said on numerous occasions, to provide the evidence his team collected to the FBI to conduct its own investigation.

A “computer-generated forgery” was procured and presented to the public “with the intent to deceive,” Zullo has said.

“Perkins Coie was also behind the Biden autopen scandal!” Arpaio further wrote on Friday evening. “US Pardon Atty Ed Martin named suspects: Robert Bauer, his wife Anita Dunn, & Ron Klain. Bauer founded/chaired Perkin’s [sic] Political Law Group (1980-2009). He was Obama’s atty and general council [sic] for the DNC & Obama campaign! Dunn served as Obama’s research and communications director, later becoming Biden’s senior advisor. Klain served as a debate prepper for Obama in 2008. He also served as Obama’s ‘Ebola czar’ and as Vice President Biden and President Biden’s chief of staff.”

Martin is investigating the motives behind former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecution of Donald Trump when he was a private citizen between presidential terms; possible coordination between Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James in their respective prosecutions of the former president; who was running the White House while Biden was allegedly incapable of doing so and authorizing controversial pardons; and “improper investigative tactics and unethical prosecutions relating to events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” Martin told Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo in May.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is currently investigating who assumed the authority to sign Joe Biden’s name by autopen to numerous official documents, including thousands of last-minute pardons of violent offenders.

“The American people deserve to know who was actually calling the shots in the Biden White House, because it wasn’t Joe Biden,” Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wrote in a May 16 press release. “His mental decline was obvious to anyone paying attention. But instead of being honest, the Biden Administration, Democrats in Congress, and the legacy media lied and covered it up. They gaslit the American people while propping up a man who was unfit to lead.”

“I will continue to expose the deep state behind Obama’s illegitimate presidency and their long history of scandals against the American people!” Arpaio concluded his Friday-night post.

In his 2020 memoir, “Sheriff Joe Arpaio: An American Legend,” Arpaio dedicated a chapter to the birth-certificate probe in which he suggested Obama was constitutionally ineligible to serve as president as a “naturalized,” but not “natural born,” citizen, as Article II of the U.S. Constitution requires:

Imagine the ramifications and the irony of it all, after all my hard work and dedication to enforcing illegal immigration laws, America could have possibly elected a naturalized citizen, born of a U.S. citizen, but constitutionally unqualified to serve as president, to two terms as commander-in-chief and, for too many, it’s just too much to bear. With all that is coming out now, in relation to the government’s intelligence coup d’état, the only hope that history gets this right in the near term is an unfettered President Donald J. Trump in a second term. If not, history may not tell the real story for 50 years—if ever.
