Of Moral Responsibility and Amoral Behavior

(Aug. 22, 2021) — Regarding the continuing Afghanistan disaster – produced and directed by the Goofball-in-Chief at 1600 – some new facts emerge. Specifically, we now learn that a telephone call took place between the Goof and French President Emmanuel Macron last Thursday, August 19, 2021. 

In that call, President Macron specifically underscored to the Goofball the imperative that both France and the United States had a “moral responsibility” to evacuate, in addition to their own citizens, Afghanis who had helped each nation over the past two decades in their goals to stabilize the nation and fight the spread of Taliban influence there.  Macron admonished the Goof: “We cannot abandon them.”

The fact that a “moral responsibility” exists, coupled with the fact that Macron also articulated the truth that “we cannot abandon them,” is important, because the Goof (and/or his handlers) intentionally omitted from the official White House “readout” summary of the call any reference whatsoever to that “moral responsibility” or the admonition that the Afghani allies could not be abandoned.

Translation: the French version accurately summarizes the call; the White House version deceptively summarizes the call.

No doubt the Goof or his handlers feared that inclusion of Macron’s remarks would expose the Goof’s mendacity and amoral animus underlying his decision to abandon both American citizens and Afghani allies in the precipitous exit from the country which he had ordered.  So, concluded the handlers, just omit any reference to the truth of what President Macron said…, the Goebbelsesque media will not notice.  And even if they do notice, they will, as usual, run cover.  Just apply some additional lipstick.  No big deal…, move along…, nothing to see here.

It will be interesting to see when the actual verbatim transcript of that call emerges what reaction, if any, the Goof had to Macron’s articulation of the “moral responsibility” both nations shared in securing the extraction of Afghanis who had assisted each and the need to avoid “abandoning” them.  Very interesting… stay tuned.

While the “readout” of the call is not the same as a verbatim transcript, it nonetheless constitutes a statement which seemingly falls within the scope of the federal “False Statements Act,” 18 U.S.C. § 1001.  That law criminalizes, among other things, the knowing and willful falsification, concealment or covering up of any “material fact” by “trick, scheme or device” in matters within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative or judicial branches of the government.  Those who violate the statute face both a stiff fine and/or imprisonment for up to five years.  Any prison term over one year is usually referred to as a “felony.”

Plainly, a summary of the call which is devoid of Macron’s specific reference to the “moral responsibility” of the two nations does not accurately convey the sentiments of the President of France.  This omission of fact would seem further to constitute an effort to deceive based on a “trick, scheme or device.” 

On the other hand, this linguistic arabesque should not be surprising given even the short track record of the Goof’s amoral and incompetent administration.  Hey, if he can, with impunity and without consequence, disregard his oath of office and shirk his constitutional obligation to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed” – a blatant and spectacular failure on full, felonious and disgraceful display at what used to be the Republic’s southern border – what’s the fuss over misrepresenting, through omission, the remarks of the President of France?

While the Goof or his handlers may argue that the omission of Macron’s “moral responsibility” statement from the readout is not a “material fact” regarding the chaos unfolding in Afghanistan, it remains that the White House summary is deceptive.  And while the omission may not be, technically, an amoral act, it is plainly unprincipled.

Once again, faithful P&E readers: this is what happens when Democrats, socialists and liberals are inserted into public office.  Without exception.  That admonition used to refer to persons “elected” to public office, but given the mounting evidence that the Goof was instead merely “inserted” into the office, a change in terminology was deemed necessary. 

Moreover, as noted here, the Goof is losing support at an exponential rate…, from Democrats.  The Rasmussen polling outfit shows just how badly the electorate views the Goof’s recent performance following the beginning of the Afghanistan debacle.  Just 37 percent of voters say they would vote for Biden today; 13 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Trump today; moderate voters’ support for Biden has plummeted 13 points, while Trump has gained; 11 percent of 18-39 year olds regret their 2020 vote; 14 percent of Black Americans regret their 2020 vote; 9 percent of Democrats regret their 2020 vote; and 12 percent of moderates regret their 2020 vote.  Not exactly a rosy picture for “Dr.” Jill’s hubby.

Clearly, the linguistic omission of President Macron’s remarks in a clumsy and transparent attempt to burnish the Goof’s cratering “foreign relations” profile is backfiring on him, a reality which will explode in November 2022.  He may as well resign now or otherwise be removed from office, because he has become a threat to the Republic.

And if anyone doubts that fact, just remember what Obama said about him.
