(Jul. 4, 2021) — On this, our nation’s 245th celebration of independence from the yoke of British rule, a few observations are in order, even as dark clouds of internal dissension brood and grow on the horizon.
Your humble servant recently proposed here, here and here that one of the few tactics available short of violence in the streets to pull the nation back from the abyss it now faces under the Regime of the Goofball and his cackling sidekick was for a small number of Democrat House of Representatives members to immediately change their party affiliation to Republican.
This selfless act of political courage on their part – implemented now, not in 2022 – would immediately set the stage for the removal of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and operate as an emergency brake on the suicidal southbound trajectory upon which the current regime has placed the Republic. This 2021 Independence Day offering doubles-down on that suggestion.
Radical? Sure. Possible? Remote. Necessary? Absolutely.
Absent application of that brake, ponder this: what if Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema change their positions on preserving the 60-vote filibuster threshold? Statehood for D.C.? A Supreme Court of 13 – or more – members? A return of H.R. 1 and S. 1? More serial multi-trillion-dollar blue state “infrastructure” bailouts, at the expense of your future grandchildren tax slaves? Was not taxation without representation one of the triggers for the Revolutionary War?
As noted in your servant’s prior posts, the country cannot wait until the mid-term elections in November 2022 for the GOP to re-take the House. Even if the Republicans won a majority of the House in 2022, the actual shift in power would not take place for another two months, in January 2023. Stated otherwise, if you think the damage visited upon the country in the last fewer than six months was bad, buckle up for the cataclysms which could emerge over the next eighteen months.
Ask yourself this: how many more illegal aliens seeking “asylum” – seriously? – will be welcomed, feloniously, over the border between now and then and transported, at your expense, to a neighborhood near you? How many more people will be killed as a result of the Goofball regime’s insouciance over the “defund the police” movements? How many more trillions of nonexistent dollars will be fabricated out of thin air to crush future generations of yet unborn tax slaves?
And perhaps of greatest importance, what response will the Goofball mount against the growing likelihood that we are already in the opening stages of a biological war being waged against us – and, parenthetically, the rest of the world – by Communist China? Oh…, wait…, the Goof and his parmesan-snorting ne’re-do-well son, Hunter, might not be so keen on irritating China. My bad. Sorry.
These are neither hyperbolic nor theoretical statements: in the fewer than six months since the installment of the Goofball-in-Chief and his incompetent and likely constitutionally-ineligible vice-president, the nation has been shoved so far to the left that the Founders would not recognize it. The malignancy of a “woke” culture that sees nothing good and everything bad in the founding documents and which proudly extols the teaching of critical “let’s-hate-one-another” race theory to students promises nothing but disaster in the future for your children, their children and their future offspring. This cannot continue if the Republic is to survive. Bear in mind, of course, that there are persons both in and out of government who would welcome the “fundamental changes” now occurring here, including its eventual destruction from within.
But enough of the finger-pointing. The time has come for action. While your servant’s prior offerings suggested that as few as six House Democrats would be needed to immediately shift the balance in the House, given the uncertainties of party allegiance by certain current GOP members (e.g. Liz Cheney [R. WY] and Adam Kinzinger [R. IL], the likelihood is that a minimum of ten (10) current House Democrats would need to “stand up and dance” in order to apply the brakes.
Since all House incumbents must run for re-election every two years if they wish to remain House members, the most likely candidates for this patriotic party-switching action are those Democrats who have already decided they will not be running for re-election. Who could blame them? Since they will no longer be “answerable” to the electorate “back home,” they are in a perfect position to place nation before party, and, by the way, go down in history as being true American patriots.
Look, this is not rocket science: the Republic is at risk from within. The Left, the mainstream media and the radical wing of the Democrat Party hate the nation. At minimum, they hate the 75+ million Americans who voted for Donald Trump in 2020, an unforgivable sin.
This is not – or should not be – about Donald Trump. Whether one adores or detests Donald Trump is completely irrelevant. That which is relevant is the survival of the United States of America as the constitutional republic which has survived for nearly 250 years – weathering one “hot” civil war, two world wars and countless other challenges – to remain standing as that “shining city on a hill” and the last best hope for freedom and liberty on the planet.
Faithful P&E readers, your humble servant has seen a lot of presidents come and go; seen a lot of tumult and recessions; seen many highs and many lows, from landing on the moon to the Challenger and Columbia disasters to watching clouds float over Mount Sharp on Mars. But your servant has never seen the Republic this close to committing hara-kiri as a consequence of not paying attention to the incremental and “fundamental transformation” of the nation beginning with the installation of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. into the presidency. In your servant’s humble view, that was the beginning of the end of the nation as we have known it, and totally without regard to his purported constitutional eligibility.
The “end” of the nation as we have known it is not, however, inevitable. The task is not easy, but the nation – with all of its scars, warts, moles and prosthetics – remains worth saving. The ten (or more) House Democrats fitting the above-described template – not running for re-election in 2022 and willing to place nation above party, regardless of the personal cost – may be the last best hope to ensure that a government “of the people, by the people and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
Maybe the suggestion gets circulated to those House Democrats fitting the template…, somehow.
