Out-of-Touch VP “Debate”

SHOULD ALL  PRESIDENTIAL AND VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS HAVE MILITARY EXPERIENCE?

(Oct. 13, 2012) — Since time immemorial, soldiers have desecrated the corpses of the vanquished. The posturing is the same as the lion’s roar over its kill, as are the reasons. Irrespective of the liberals’ “politically correct” interpretation of the world, what actually transpires is that the only rules become written by the victors.  If there were a footnote, it would be as a tribute to the fallen foe, such as “the sailors of the Bismarck put-up a valiant fight,” “the Marines on Guam fought to the bitter end,” and “the heroes of Flight 93.

George Patton made no secret what he was going to do in the Rhine when he crossed it when he got his Army into Germany, and he did so, in front of the troops and the cameras, and many a GI did the same before and after him, and they loved him for it. Had it been possible for Neil Armstrong to do the same on the moon, he, too, I believe, would’ve made his mark, signaling his accomplishment, no doubt in front of the cameras, just as Patton did in 1945.

I was volunteered for an outing out of Subic Bay in 1965 and I, too, did the same deed as soldiers four thousands years ago did to celebrate victory, to celebrate life. There is no blatant disrespect offered; all it is is “I’m alive and glad of it. I came out of it intact and this is my way of celebrating.” It’s clearly a subconscious act of celebrating life, as I vainly tried to explain to my wife. All I can say is you had to be there to understand, and obviously the VP contenders haven’t a clue to how a warrior acts, and if anyone doesn’t like the truth of the situation, then I sure as heck can’t help them.

The second point is the burning or the desecration of the Quran. Why bother? Why waste your time, or, for that matter, your money to buy a copy of the Quran in the first place in order to destroy it? Look, these Muslims don’t need any made-up excuse to go on a rampage and act as savages: they’re on a rampage already, and have been for 1,400 years, and act as savages naturally.  If you disagree with me, may I point you to a couple of websites that exposes the truth about Islam; that is, of course, if you can handle it: Atlas Shrugs, Jihad Watch , and Bare Naked Islam.

What happened at Abu Ghraib wasn’t “torture,” as shocked members of Congress would have you believe. Torture is what you find on Muslim websites where they, well, use your imagination; decorum (and my editor) prevent me from being too descriptive.

And now to the point of this editorial. You may not think it as important as I do, but I believe that a person with some military background as a President or Vice President is preferable than one who is completely in the dark. If you need clarification on that, just look at who was in charge of embassy security and her qualifications. I wrote a couple of weeks ago that the Secretary of Defense should be the person who has the sole responsibility for keeping his troops as safe as to be reasonably expected, no matter where those troops may serve. A civilian in charge of Marines and the security of our embassies doesn’t cut it with this Vet.

And another question:  Why have an embassy in Libya in the first place? What, we going to dialog?

Look, I want our world a lot safer than these idiots who want the prestige and the notoriety of being the VP and the President of the United States. I could care less, personally, about any accolades and benefits and adoration: keep them for the child who is fighting cancer or the abused animal. All I want is to get our country back on a course of survival, and these contenders for the office of President and VP are a sorry bunch of easily-offended, politically correct (here, YOU fill in the blank)                                  .
