(Oct. 23, 2026) — Late Thursday evening, President Trump posted on his TruthSocial account that the congresswoman known as “Ilhan Omar” cannot resume her activities in the U.S. House of Representatives, alleging, as has U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, that “Omar” has been using a false identity.
On October 12, “Omar’s” Washington, DC home was the subject of a search warrant in which agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of ICE and DHS, spent “roughly five hours” gathering targeted items.
“It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar, the one she used to get elected and sworn into Congress,” Trump wrote, perhaps referencing Pirro’s on-air statement with Fox News host Jesse Watters Thursday night, “but rather, it’s an entirely different name, Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.”
In a court filing on Wednesday, Pirro referred to “Omar” as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” and told Watters that “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi” is her “real name.”
“Omar” and her congressional staff have denied any wrongdoing, claiming the investigation is politically motivated. In a video posted earlier this week on “Omar’s” Instagram account, she said she will continue to “fight Trump and his administration for trying to intimidate me and so many people right before the midterm elections.”
For months, the administration has said that “Omar” was the subject of a federal-level investigation concerning “immigration fraud” and possibly other issues. Just over a week ago, Pirro confirmed her office is investigating the congresswoman’s 2024 congressional financial disclosure, which was amended to show a net worth of approximately $100,000 as opposed to an earlier report of $30 million.
Specific to “immigration,” credible sources have alleged that in 2009, “Omar” participated in a sham marriage to her blood brother with the possible motive of obtaining legal status for him to facilitate college financial aid.
The union is recorded at the Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS):

“…her last name is, incredibly, also the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person they said she married and had children with,” Trump’s post continued. “When asked whether or not she married her brother, she said, “Not to my knowledge.” In other words, she somehow didn’t know? Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress. Please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson, that the Dumocrat Party has just conceded her seat. Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name, has openly admitted to FRAUD, and she will not be legally allowed to be a Member of this August Body from this point forth. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Trump might be mistaken about “Omar’s” children, as it is generally believed another man, Ahmed Hirsi, who “Omar” said she initially married in her “faith tradition” and was not initially recorded, is their father.
“Omar” has called reports she “married her brother,” Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, false, claiming to MS NOW host Chris Hayes Wednesday that the “rumor” arose from a “Somali blog” and spread to “right-wing conspiracy theorists”
As of this writing, “Omar” has not been charged with a crime. Whether she can be barred from serving in Congress prior to an indictment, prosecution and conviction is an open question because, according to The Post & Email‘s previous reporting based on research by AJ Kern and others, “Omar” may not be a U.S. citizen, which is required for all members of Congress and every state legislature.
Evidence collected by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Justice Department was reportedly submitted to a grand jury, which issued “more than a dozen subpoenas” prior to the October 12 search.
