Fox News Quotes AJ Kern on Ilhan Omar Findings

(May 21, 2026) — At 6:11 a.m. EDT Thursday, “Fox & Friends” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy, in for Ainsley Earhardt, quoted former DFL primary candidate and Ilhan Omar challenger AJ Kern on her discovery that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN5) claimed naturalized citizenship through her father’s alleged naturalization in 2000 but that no evidence of it has been located by the federal government.

In response to two 2022 FOIA requests, Kern was informed the following year that no documentation of naturalization for Nur Omar Mohamed could be found.

Omar claimed she obtained derivative citizenship at age 17 through her father’s becoming a U.S. citizen, Campos-Duffy apparently read from a report, sourced to “a woman named ‘AJ Kern.'”

The Post & Email has interviewed Kern on several occasions regarding her research showing that after Kern released a video questioning Omar’s alleged naturalization, Omar restated her birth year as “1982” instead of “1981” on official government websites without explanation.

“Who changes their birth year…?” Campos-Duffy asked.

Article I, Section 2, clause 2 of the Constitution requires that all members of the House of Representatives be U.S. citizens for at least “seven years.”

Kern filed as a DFL candidate for the 2022 primary, challenging the Somali-born Omar and fellow candidate Don Samuels, who was born in Jamaica, to release their naturalization records to prove their eligibility. Neither complied, and Kern’s subsequent lawsuit demanding the records was unsuccessful.

Also discussed during the segment was extensive reporting, including by the President and Vice President of the United States, that Omar “married her brother,” thereby committing some form of “immigration fraud.”

The subject of Omar opened with a discussion about fraudulently-obtained food-service payments dating back to at least 2020 in Minneapolis, particularly among the Somali-born community Omar’s congressional district includes. It is alleged by some, including a woman due to be sentenced for related crimes, that Omar played a role.

“Aimee Bock, founder of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, who was convicted of conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud in March 2025, said in an interview from jail last week that Omar was in on the scam, which saw restaurant owners file fake or inflated claims during the pandemic, stealing millions of dollars in child nutrition funds,” Newsweek reported Wednesday.

Omar has denied any pre-knowledge of the fraud scheme and has pointed to a letter she wrote in 2022 to then-USDA Commissioner Tom Vilsack following allegations of corruption stemming from Feeding Our Future.

Co-host Brian Kilmeade closed the topic with, “Don’t marry your brother,” to which Campos-Duffy responded, “That’s another part of it,” meaning questions surrounding Omar’s legitimacy and immigration status.

Credible reporting indicates Omar may have engaged in what should have been a sham marriage to her blood brother, although her motives have been characterized as her attempt to gain U.S. citizenship rather than favorable status for her brother, who was living in the UK prior to arriving in the U.S. in 2009.

In March, the government of Somaliland, which is struggling to obtain international recognition as separate and distinct from that of Somalia, claimed that when applying for admission to the United States, members of the “Omar” family provided false identification.

Omar has denied all wrongdoing.
