(Apr. 20, 2025) — “Easter Parade” (1:20)

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to ‘The Pulse of the Nation,’ the place to hear it here first. Archbishop Dunkin invited us to attend Easter service in his little church down on Hawthorn Street so here we are, up in the balcony. And there he is, approaching the pulpit.”

“Glory be, brethren, the Lord has risen! Please turn to page 43 of the hymnal and join in with our most excellent choir.”

What a Friend We have in Jesus” (2:45)

“Please be seated. We live in turbulent times; indeed, we do. The Devil is knockin’ at the door but we’re strong. Our power of resistance comes from a deep understanding between what is right and what is wrong. Freedom is right, slavery wrong. Truth is right, lies are false. We choose to believe or not to believe. We make choices but we also make mistakes.

“Shakespeare wrote, ‘to err is human.’ Some errors in judgement cannot be corrected, are everlasting and no matter how much we pray cannot be put right. Each of us must accept reality, how things are and not how we wish them to be.

“But if there’s a thread of hope, even to the point of a sacrificial act warning others of impending doom, do we live for another day. And it is so very true that for every life remembered, there are thousand that are not. Children and loved pets are remembered for a lifespan and then pushed into unrecorded history, as are cherished thoughts. Remembrances are sacred only to the living.

“As they say, for every rule there is an exception, and we must admit that the recital of Our Savior’s life is just that. From miraculous birth to crucifixion, we have all wondered why Our Lord would give a hoot about any one of us, but He did, and we must accept the fact that He did. No matter what we may think about ourselves, good or bad, He loves us still. That’s right; for those of us who believe in Him, there’s that thread, that helping hand to pull us up from darkness into the light, from ignorance to understanding, from believing the lies to accepting the truth.

“The problem lies in those who are not on board with the idea of America. Some desecrate our flag, some kill cops, and some kill for the sake of killing. There’s but one coin and that coin is called life. The coin has three sides: front, back and side. Let’s consider the front as ‘Believers in the Golden Rule,’ the back ‘Hypocrites,’ and the edge, ‘People sitting on the fence.’ In today’s world, sitting on the fence will get you killed. We have gun laws, permits issued for either open carry or concealed carry and then we have those who are ‘unarmed and helpless.’ Crooks, thieves, muggers, robbers, the ‘lowlife’ characters of the society, have guns, and trust me on this, no permits. The powers that be, our elected representatives, the government, want us to be unarmed, okay? They want our guns.

“Let me put it in words all can understand: the Deep State wants our guns, from a .22 plinker* to a .12-gauge double-barrel shotgun. They want all of our guns, and the correlation between the citizens being armed and being helpless is the difference between freedom and slavery. History is replete with examples of what immediately happens once the government disarms its citizens, and we don’t want any part of it.

“Why do we talk about guns on Easter? Because of the concept of ‘free choice,’ that’s why. Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to worship, think, speak, read, write, and be armed as he pleases. All of us in our congregation can do whatever we want within the confines of the Golden Rule,’ and it’s that, when all’s said and done, that’s the bottom line.

“Let us pray. Dear Lord, we’re doggone lucky to have Trump. We are proud to have voted for Trump rather than the stand-in for Barabbas, Kamala.  Please keep our President and his family safe and sound. We ask this of you, Dear Lord. Amen.

“Please turn to page 111 of your hymnal and sing us out. Dogs, burgers and drinks out back. See you there.”

How Great Thou Art” (4:12)

“And that includes our broadcast so I’ll wish you all a goodnight: Goodnight.”

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” (3:56)
