The angels, gathered all around on one Thanksgiving day,
Reminisced on files old, of lives they’d helped along the way.
One recalled, “I was a man without a home or bread,”
“I caused a family to take in how blessed they were instead.”
A second spoke, “With subtle ways I brought to a bride,”
“The little things that made her feel her parents by her side.”
“In the midst of battle,” a third one took their turn,
“I worked miracles for a soldier to return.”
A hush fell over the small group as a fourth one stood,
An angel feared by man, but to God’s child brings good.
“On this day of giving thanks I brought a daughter Home,”
“I wrapped her in my arms and made her feel less alone,”
“I gave her peace and then the strength to open up her eyes,”
“And speak three words of comfort to her soulmate at her side.”
“He will long remember that, and when his time has come,”
“I hope to God to have the joy of bringing Home His son.”
The others bowed with an, “Amen,” and then turned toward the earth,
Back to their task of helping man and showing them their worth.
