(Nov. 3, 2023) —The man in tattered clothes sat beside the dusty road. He watched the hustle and bustle of the shoppers as they prepared for their holiday feast. Soon, weariness bowed his head and his eyes closed. The unshaven man fell into a dream of white linen-clad tables filled to overflowing with stuffed turkeys, potatoes, beans, corn, bread, pitchers of apple cider and every kind of pie.
The dreaming tramp was unaware of the quarrelling of a frazzled family, ladened down with goods. He only woke when he heard the small clink of metal dropping into his tin cup. Lifting his uncombed head, his dark eyes met the clear blue eyes of a child. She smiled before turning and hurrying back to her family.
The adults of the group hung their heads and blushed with shame as they surveyed their bags of food. Glancing at their fellow being in the dust, they saw him smile and nod with a, “Thank you. God bless.” They walked away, a little slow, their squabble all forgot. Their eyes had suddenly been opened to how richly blessed they were.

Thank you!
Complacency, familiarity, and lack of focus constantly drain our perspective of thankfulness… it is why we should ALWAYS make (aka plan) sometime every week to assist those less fortunate than us. When you do, you’ll discover the blessings go both ways.
