(Dec. 11, 2022) — “Shane Theme” (2:51)

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to ‘The Pulse of the Nation,’ the place to hear it here first. Our first guest is Mr. Todd Verge of someplace in Montana who wrote a book about his experiences in the Army while stationed somewhere in Afghanistan. Welcome aboard ‘Pulse,’ the most-watched information show in its time slot. So, you’re here to hawk your book, ‘A Sense of Urgency.’ What kind of book is it, a suspense novel or what?”

“No, nothing as dramatic as that. It’s an autobiography of the real-life trials and tribulations of a photographer on one of the backwater Army military bases in Afghanistan during the last years of Barry Soetoro’s, aka Obama’s, administration.”

“So, it’s a collection of photos?”

“Of 30 Chapters, each with a full description and commentary.”

“Commentary? What’s ‘commentary’ supposed to mean?”

“It’s the difference in what should have happened vs. the ‘Rules of Engagement’ is what ‘commentary’ means; between truth vs. lies; fact or fiction.”

“So, what are you saying?”

“I’m saying the ‘BIG LIE’ doesn’t fly anymore. Vietnam is history; Kuwait is past; Iraq was a joke, Libya, too; and Afghanistan was nothing but a bank heist. We have thousands of our military dead, maimed and crazy because none of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was in a knife fight to the death. We have idiots acting as our Secretaries of Defense and we’re just as bad to think a tiger can change its stripes: it can’t, any more than a professional – life-long — politician can pass a lie detector test even telling the truth they lie so much.”

“I say you’re a really funny guy.”

“I once had a wife, a nurse, who worked the 3-11 shift. I called the hospital one night to ask her something about dinner for me and the kid and the operator told me it was my wife’s ‘day off.’ Now wasn’t I surprised*, just as surprised when the troops in Vietnam learned that there was such a thing as a ‘winning’ strategy; just as surprised as the troops in Afghanistan were when they learned that there is no such animal as changing the hearts and minds of a Muslim.”

“So where does the sense of urgency theme enter the picture?”

“I’ve been in a few spots when if I didn’t act right and fast, I’d be dead, and I must say that all the military training and practice doesn’t mean anything when it comes down to fast and right. I’ve been with guys who talked the talk but when it came down to the nitty gritty, they didn’t step up, didn’t walk the walk. I’ve been with the best militarily educated and trained but when the proverbial hit the fan they were absent. I’ve been with the best equipped but when the bullets started flying, they waited around for direction. I’ve been with the best in-shape who wore the uniform of the elite, but when it came down to life or death like now, they hesitated. And that’s what this book is all about.”

“But what makes you think that you’re anything special?”

“I’m not, and that’s the point, isn’t it? I mean, don’t put your hopes and dreams on a resume vs. what you feel inside. Look, Audie Murphy wasn’t any of those things, but he was a leader, and those who served with him deferred to him and they’d have been fools not to.”

“But he wasn’t allowed to go to West Point, was he?”

“Truth? He would have been an embarrassment to them, that’s why.”

“So, the Generals and Admirals are, what, provincial?”

“Compared to cosmopolitan? For sure. And that’s what’s wrong with today’s military: can’t stand up to what is right vs. what is wrong; what works vs. what doesn’t work; and what has been successful to we don’t have a clue, and there’s no better example than what happened to the USS Cole in 2000.”

“Well, this has been a most enlightening interview, I must say.”

“I’ll leave you with this last thought: our military isn’t what it used to be and don’t inflate something that has a leak, starting with the weak and incompetent presidency. Trump’s Secretary of Defense was also a loser, don’t forget.”

“We won’t and that’ll do it for this episode of ‘Pulse.’ There should be a sense of urgency getting Biden O-U-T along with Chuck Schumer and all the other traitors. By the way, we here at Pulse’ are vehemently anti-land mine and we think you should be, too. Thank you for watching. Goodnight.

“Good show. Burger time: my treat.”

[*Surprised: More like blindsided.]

My Best You” (2:51)
