(Apr. 11, 2021) – As noted here, Senators Joe Manchin (D.W.VA) and Kyrsten Sinema (D. AZ) continue to weather Al Sharpon’s slander against them for standing firm against the elimination of the Senate filibuster.  These two politicians seem to understand perfectly the 1887 admonition of Lord Acton: “Power corrupts.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

So, while the two senators stand firm, people like Sharpton, Congressman James Clyburn and assorted leftist insects – including their propaganda apparatchiks such as The Washington Post – turn up the heat in pursuit of their true nirvana: absolute corruption throughout Congress and the federal government under the current Goofball’s regime.  No time to waste… the opportunity could be lost in 2022.

Malevolently – and never letting a crisis go to waste – when a former intern aide to Senator Sinema was found dead in Death Valley earlier this week after his car broke down, within minutes…, literally minutes… following Senator Sinema’s Twitter tweet expressing her grief upon learning of the death, the cannibals of the left began berating her filibuster position, using the aide’s death as a social media cudgel

One particular Twitter-maggot responded to Senator Sinema’s grief tweet thusly: “Would your intern want you to eliminate the filibuster and pass HR1, Senator Sinema?”  Whoever composed that message to Senator Sinema has given the term “ghoulish” new meaning.   Let us see if it gets deleted or censored.

Tell me again how leftists populating Twitterland will lead the nation to a better place.  Tell me again that politicizing the death of a former U.S. Army veteran combat engineer in an effort to shame or humiliate Senator Sinema into abandoning her position is anything other than a malicious dagger wielded with dark intent.

Another tweet aimed at Senator Sinema asserted: “You and Manchin will be the reasons Democrats lose the Senate,” presumably as a result of the 2022 elections, when one-third of the Senators are up for reelection.  As discussed here, Congressman Clyburn seems to have revealed the real reason for the Democrats’ insane goal of eliminating the filibuster.  Without the enactment of H.R. 1 or its Senate counterpart, S. 1, after the election debacle of 2020 with the states taking steps to restore and secure election and voting integrity – the very thing the Democrats despise – both the House and the Senate could shift to GOP control in 2022.

Because the filibuster stands in the way, it’s now in the Democrats’ crosshairs.  So, far from being a racist relic of the past, the filibuster remains one of the few bulwarks against the “absolute power” craved by the Democrats, not unlike an addict craving crack cocaine.  Or parmesan cheese.

Senators Manchin and Sinema should stand their ground.  Even if you, faithful P&E reader, do not share many common political views with the two Democrat senators – as is the case with your humble servant – you must support them on this issue.  And as for the tweet predicting that Senators Manchin and Sinema would “be the reasons Democrats [will] lose the Senate,” a pretty good argument can be made that control of the Senate could change well before the 2022 elections.

In point of fact – the likelihood of the proposal aside – if both Senators Manchin and Sinema determined to put country, patriotism and common sense above the lunacies of their current political party – which organism grows more grotesque and cannibalistic with each passing hour, day…, and death… – they would immediately, perhaps even simultaneously, switch parties and join the Republicans.  After all, turnabout is fair play…, no?   Recall that one of the nation’s greatest Presidents, Ronald Reagan, was once a card-carrying Democrat until he realized that he had a brain and determined to use it.

Recall as well that, following cloture of the Democrat-led filibuster of the 1964 Civil Right Act, Democrat Senator Strom Thurmond (D. S.C.) changed his party affiliation and became a Republican, stating that “[t]he Democratic party has abandoned the people,” adding that “[i]t has repudiated the Constitution of the United States; It is leading the evolution of our nation to a socialistic dictatorship.” (Emphasis added)

The late Sen. Strom Thurmond (1902-2003) (public domain)

Sound familiar?  That was back in 1964, over a half century ago.  As a footnote, your humble servant apologizes for the preceding link to the New York Times website, thereby sullying The P&E website, but since it is to the archives during an era when that newspaper retained a semblance of journalistic integrity, the reference was thought to be excusable.  The earlier link to the WaPo opinion hit piece against Senator Sinema was included only for its risible, comedic content.

The Goofball-in-Chief and his Oval Office marionette-masters have repudiated more than a few provisions of the Constitution and its Amendments, including, among many others, the provisions of Art. 2, § 3 obliging the Goofball to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” and the Second Amendment commanding that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” (Emphasis added)

Moreover, anyone who thinks that the current regime is other than maniacally intent on “leading… our nation to a socialistic dictatorship,” as Senator Thurmond noted, is either (a) willfully ignorant; (b) smoking parmesan cheese; or (c) both.

Senators Manchin and Sinema should think long and hard about their place in history and whether they want to remain identified with a cult that threatens to brand them as racists for principled stances unless they dance to the “kill-the-filibuster” polka; shames them with tweets leveraging the death of an Army veteran; and seems not to care about anything other than raw political power.

Stated otherwise, Manchin and Sinema should start thinking about where they want to end up in history…, but the clock is ticking…,  and the cannibals of the left show no signs of relenting in the near term.  Besides, if they switched, they could blame the cannibals for their political epiphany and, in so doing, maybe turn them upon each other.

Sweet.
