THAN SNOW ON THE GROUND, BLUE SKY AND 60º?

by Sharon Rondeau

(Feb. 19, 2017) — It is a rare February day in the North when the thermometer rises above 30, but rarer still when doubling that number.

On what can be described only as an unexpectedly pristine day here in Southern New England, the snow and ice from the “blizzard” of ten days ago are visibly melting from the rays of the bright sun and balmy temperatures.

The sky is a brilliant, clear blue with bands of white clouds stretching across.

Saturday saw 52º, but it wasn’t predicted to be this warm today.

What a gift!

Maybe Punxsutawny Phil was wrong and the other two groundhogs were right.

Even if winter returns for a while, we know there are bright and sunny days ahead.

Even the cyclamen, which nearly died over this winter for no apparent reason, seems to know.
