Do We Need a Convention of States to Restore the Constitution and Shrink Government?

by Dr. Thomas E. Davis, Col., USA (Ret.)

Dr. Tom E. Davis is a retired U.S. Army colonel, World War II veteran, a dentist by profession, and a writer

(Apr. 14, 2016) — I have sent several THOUSAND communications to congress, agencies, departments , etc. Never a response and never any action. We MUST have a COS and do the following at a minimum:

1. Require a Balanced budget every year.
2. Set definitive Term Limits
3. Abolish the IRS
4. Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment
5. Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment
6. Reintroduce the ERA.
7. Amend Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 to define precisely “Natural Born Citizen”
8. Abolish ALL political parties as being antithetical to a Federalist form of governance.
9. Abolish the EPA, The Department of Education and the NSA.
10. Downsize and restructure the Department of the Interior; eliminate the BLM.
11. Abolish the CIA; their functions can be handled by the intelligence arm of the Military
12. Revamp the outdated and misused Immigration system.
13. Round up and deport every illegal alien, to include every muslim who will NOT Swear allegiance to our constitutional form of Law and forswear Sharia Law or leave IMMEDIATELY and deport every muslim failing to comply.
14. Make Impeachment applicable to all members of Congress as intended by the Founders.
15. Immediately require that God be given His rightful place in America’s classrooms right along with the American Flag.
16. Make changes to the Criminal Code, Title 18 and revive the nationwide Death Penalty for Murder, applicable in every Jurisdiction. The method need not be by chemicals so long as there is a rope and a tree.
17. Amend Article III, Section 3 setting the mandatory penalty for Treason as “Death By Hanging” and use it as soon as the crime is detected, and the appropriate court has announced the conviction. Tolerate no delay as has been done with Soetoro-Obama and his two separate acts of Treason.
18. Amend the constitution to eliminate the “Birthright citizenship” being used deliberately by the illegal aliens from south of the border.

Given a little more time, I might come up with a few more.

A convention of states while being constitutional could be a catastrophic event. Who would the delegates to such a convention be? Would there be some requirement they have a working knowledge of our present constitution? Where would such knowledgeable people be found? Most folks, even those with a pocket constitution on their person has little to no knowledge of what the various articles were intended to mean by our Founders. Sending public fool system graduates, socialist university graduates or law school graduates to such a convention would be catastrophic.

The risk is what the leftists will insist be added to the U.S. Constitution, such as a right to free health care, no deportations, voting rights for illegal immigrants, etc. A constitutional convention could yield excellent result, but it could also be a disaster. Frankly, I don’t trust the politicians to not screw us.
