HAVE AMERICANS LOST ALL TRUST IN THEIR GOVERNMENT?

by OPOVV, ©2013

Can the IRS be abolished in our lifetimes and begin the restoration of confidence in government, or is it too late?

(Jul. 11, 2013) — Been there, done that. Once the trust you have in your life’s partner goes down the drain, so does the marriage. I met her while I was in the military and there’s not a day that goes by that she hasn’t filled my brain, but the signs were all in line that she was cheating on me, so I packed up and got out of Dodge.

And now it has been revealed that our government has been spying, not just on the bad guys (Mosques exempt, did you know that?), but on everybody, with Veterans on top of the list, and we all know why, because if anybody is to recognize an illegal order, it’s the Vets of our military.

Once upon a time one of the requirements to become a police officer was to be ex-military but, thanks to Affirmative Action, even that requirement was just too much of a hurdle for the mentally- and physically-challenged among us to overcome, so today we have a bunch of previously-unqualified goons that are ostensibly supposed to protect us.  But who is protecting us from them? Let’s call this STRIKE ONE.

Arguably, America’s favorite pastime is to hide money from the IRS because the exorbitant amount the IRS gets its hands on, at least two-thirds, is wasted on government pork.  That’s a nice way of saying “a road to nowhere,” “whatever it takes to get (fill in the blank) reelected,” and “always nice to help the brother-in-law or some other member of the family.” No one liked the IRS before the revelations of blatant “in-your-face” wasteful spending, and, if it’s possible, people distrust them even more now. The solution to the very real problem of government employees not doing their job is to abolish the department, fire all the former employees and deny them their pensions for stealing from the public for a lifetime. Look, I’ll show you all just how easy it can be: when I type the letter “G” (for gone, long gone) the IRS is but a memory and so are its employees…“G.”  STRIKE TWO.

Obviously, the government needs revenue in order to operate, so we allow it to collect the monies by a nationwide point-of-sales tax, aka “Fair Tax” and “Consumer Tax.”  Don’t want to pay the tax? Don’t buy the 1-lb. bag of M&M’s or that Turbo Porsche; it’s your choice. But then, of course, there’s no longer an income tax (and no death tax). You want to talk about “Freedom?”  Start with abolishing the IRS.

You have your industrial spies, your nosy neighbor, and your government spies. Government spies can be broken down by spying on each other, on other nations, and on people wherever they are, which is what the NSA turned out to be, except their neighborhood consists of the whole planet. Not only does our government spy on us, but we’re paying for the privilege of being spied upon. I don’t have anything to hide, but I don’t like the idea of being spied upon. I mind my own business, and I expect to be treated as such, and if I’m not, and I’m not, I tend to get a little peeved. I’m peeved at our government, and so, too, should you be. Our trust in our government has been shattered beyond redemption.

Years later I had a chance to reconnect with the ex, and by that time I had finished college with a 3.85 GPA, quit the drugs, smoking and drinking and, finally, gotten my life on track.  She was in the same place as when I left her years before: I learned her future husband was in the Navy and out at sea during my visit.

What each of us has is a government that is not for or even by the people, but a government made up of liars, spies and cheats who just want to rob us of our money and our Liberty. STRIKE THREE.

We have a choice: do we retain this out-of-control government or do we exercise our individual right to divorce our government?

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and provide new guards for their future security.”
