Homan Tight-Lipped on Omar Case

(Oct. 17, 2026) — During the second hour of Saturday’s “The Big Weekend Show,” which airs on the Fox News Channel from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EDT on weekends, guest and “Border Czar” Tom Homan was asked if “denaturalization” is a possibility for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), whose Washington, DC home was searched by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) last Monday morning.

Omar is said to be under investigation not only for “immigration”-related matters by DHS, but also a large discrepancy in her 2024 congressional initial financial disclosure and an amended statement which U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced on Wednesday.

President Trump has opined on numerous occasions that Omar “should be thrown out of the country.”

In 2022, former Minnesota congressional primary contender AJ Kern reported on her website her state-level inquiries into Omar’s citizenship after discovering a change in Omar’s stated birth year by Omar’s congressional staff and that her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, appears to have lacked U.S. citizenship when he passed away in 2020.

Of crucial significance to Omar is that she claims she derived her U.S. citizenship from her father when she was 17.

As she related to The Post & Email at the time, Kern feared Omar could be a “Somali nationalist” occupying a seat in Congress, thereby allegedly committing numerous other crimes involving her federal candidacy, an issue the Federal Election Commission (FEC) declined to investigate.

While major media has confused and conflated some aspects of the story since it broke on Monday, “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy has come the closest to complete accuracy by stating that if Omar’s father never naturalized, Omar might be serving in Congress as the citizen of another nation.

As Kern observed in 2022 in a video, there is no evidence Omar ever naturalized as a minor or independently after reaching age 18. Article I, Section 2, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution mandates that “No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.”

Since Monday, the media has reported that Omar’s congressional office requested a change to her stated birth year, from 1981 to 1982, which, Kern theorized in her video, could have been an attempt for the congresswoman to appear to have been 17 in 2000 rather than 18, when she would have exceeded the legal age for derivative citizenship.

What the media has not reported is that Omar’s office made the request of the Minnesota House Legislative Library two days after Kern released the video in which she related her observation.

According to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin on Friday, the case against Omar is “strong,” with additional search warrants executed in other locations associated with Omar and plans for DHS to send the evidence to a grand jury.

Members of Omar’s family received subpoenas “three days prior” to the search of Omar’s residence, USA TODAY reported Wednesday, citing “a person familiar with the matter.”

When asked by a panel member if Minnesota were one of the locations receiving scrutiny, Homan answered in the affirmative.

He was also asked if, should immigration fraud prove accurate on Omar’s part, she could be “denaturalized.”

“If you lie during the naturalization process, there is a process to denaturalize somebody… There’s a lot of denaturalization cases [sic] going on across the country,” he replied.

“Denaturalization” was one of five priorities of his office, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Civil Division Brett Shumate announced just after assuming his position in June of last year, if some form of “fraud” were involved in an individual’s acquisition of U.S. citizenship.

Homan declined to provide a response to Rick Edson’s question as to whether the case against Omar involves something in addition to “immigration” issues.

Co-host Tomi Lahren asked Homan if DHS “workplace enforcement” in the state of Kansas is halted, which Mullin said was the case on September 25. To that, Homan replied that he firmly believes in the practice and that a new operation is about to launch. Mullin “will not come on this show,” Lahren told Homan as justification for querying Homan about it.

At the end of the interview (approx. 6:18 p.m. EDT), Lahren asked Homan to relay a renewed invitation for Mullin to appear on the program to answer the panel’s questions, which Homan agreed to convey.
