Trump Breaks Silence on Iran’s Defiance

by Sharon Rondeau

(Apr. 19, 2026) — After withholding comment Saturday despite negative developments in the U.S. ceasefire with Iran, at 8:10 a.m. EDT Sunday President Trump acknowledged Iran’s “total violation” of the tenuous agreement set to expire on Wednesday.

Despite having pledged Friday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic, sending the price of oil plunging and the U.S. stock market soaring, on Saturday Iran’s foreign minister declared the Strait closed.

The rogue regime, which has reportedly killed thousands of its own citizens for protesting against it, fired on at least one ship as it traversed the key Middle-Eastern waterway through which approximately 20% of the world’s oil supply was moved prior to Iran’s closure of it on March 12.

On Saturday the New York Post reported Iran attacked “at least two ships.”

Since the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict was launched February 28, Trump has demanded Iran relinquish its nuclear arsenal and agree not to seek nuclear enrichment in the future. That point, Trump reported last week, was the singular issue to which Iranian negotiators would not agree during lengthy negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan on April 11.

Despite the positive developments announced Friday, Trump declared the U.S. “blockade” of the Strait which took effect last Monday would remain in place.

The blockage of traffic to and from Iran has cost the country approximately $435 million daily, Fox News reported.

On Sunday morning, Trump appeared to confirm the Post‘s report and claimed Iran’s belligerence was “helping us without knowing.”

U.S. negotiators will return to Islamabad, he said, by Monday evening in what could be considered a final attempt at a diplomatic solution to the impasse with a regime bearing a reputation for lying, concealing and murdering at will since deposing the Shah in 1979.

As an ultimatum, Trump wrote, “We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! They’ll come down fast, they’ll come down easy and, if they don’t take the DEAL, it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years…”

He concluded his post with, “IT’S TIME FOR THE IRAN KILLING MACHINE TO END! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Iran is doing the same thing that North Vietnam did after their Spring ’68 Tet Offensive was a complete, total and utter failure for them…stall, Stall, STALL unconditionally accepting our termination of conflict terms knowing the American public will eventually tire of conflict and demand an end to it. Note that Democrats have begun discussing revoking the President’s authority to continue prosecuting the conflict…just as they did re the Vietnam War. Less than two years later, North Vietnam had taken over South Vietnam…slautering more innocent civilian men, women and children than were killed during 10 years of war and interning millions more in “re-education camps”.
