(Nov. 27, 2025) — 8:15 a.m. EST – Fox News has reported an upcoming press conference Thursday on the ambush-style attack on two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington, DC Wednesday afternoon at the Farragut West Metro Station.

The perpetrator is reportedly an “Afghan national” admitted to the U.S. under “Operation Allies Welcome” launched in 2021. According to reports, he overstayed a two-year humanitarian visa.

Of its initiative to “resettle” U.S. “allies” and “other vulnerable Afghans” in the U.S., the Biden regime claimed beneficiaries were subjected to a “rigorous screening and vetting process, which is multi-layered and ongoing, involves biometric and biographic screenings conducted by intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism professionals from DHS and DOD, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and additional intelligence community partners. This process includes reviewing fingerprints, photos, and other biometric and biographic data for every single Afghan before they are cleared to travel to the United States. As with other arrivals at U.S. ports of entry, Afghan nationals undergo a primary inspection when they arrive at a U.S. airport, and a secondary inspection is conducted as the circumstances require.”

After an initial Truth Social post Wednesday evening, President Trump issued a video message from Mar-a-Lago, where he is spending Thanksgiving. In his five-minute message, Trump stated the “animal” who carried out the crime demonstrated the “national security” threat to the U.S. of the “20 million” unvetted illegal aliens “from all over the world” the Biden regime admitted over its four years.

According to Attorney General Pam Bondi in an appearance on “Fox & Friends” at 8:24 a.m., in reference to the victims, “they both came through surgery.”

She then added that “the young woman volunteered to work on Thanksgiving so other people could be home with their families.”

The soldiers’ condition is said to be “critical.”

“The most important thing you can do today is pray,” Bondi told the three co-hosts as her interview concluded.

At approximately 9:18 a.m., U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro launched the presser during which she extended the nation’s best wishes to the families of the two injured National Guardsmen. She reiterated Bondi’s report of their having undergone surgery and continued critical condition and said “all necessary resources” to their families.

She announced the name of the suspect as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who she said entered the U.S. on September 5, 2021 under “Operation Allies Welcome.”

“You picked the wrong target, the wrong city, and the wrong country, and you will be sorry for the evil and the violence you have perpetrated on this country,” she directed to the suspect.

At 9:25, FBI Director Kash Patel spoke, confirming the investigation is one into “terrorism.”

“We are looking for an interviewing witnesses,” he said, and that “analysis” of certain evidence has begun.
