(Nov. 16, 2025) — “96 Tears” (3:10)
“Okay, I served my country, but it cost me my wife. Would I do it again? Yes, I would, but I don’t have to like it. So, when you tell me, ‘Thank you for your service,’ forgive me for not smiling and gushing.”
“For What It’s Worth” (2:37)
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to ‘The Pulse of the Nation,’ the place to hear it here first. Professor Zorkophsky is here to hawk his latest book, ‘I Didn’t Do It For You.’ Welcome back to ‘Pulse,’ the most-watched information show in its time slot.”
“And thank you for the timely invite of the release of my latest bestseller. This book was built upon many hours with combat related PTSD patients who all were divorced from their first wives. Many of them remarried, but all lived in abject shame of their first catastrophe which, I tell them, wasn’t their fault.”
“And they believed you?”
“Not a one. Each of them bore the guilt of the failed marriage as if it was their fault and their fault alone, which it was.”
“But not all combat-related PTSD victims end in divorce.”
“The acute ones do, the ones who are deathly afraid of going to sleep, taking the chance of having another nightmare, waking out of their wits, sweating, shaking and crying in front of their wives which, to a one, make them feel ashamed for not having control, not being strong enough to handle it.”
“But it’s not their fault.”
“Try telling that to a scared-out-of-their wits Veteran at 3:00 a.m. Waste of time, and they wouldn’t believe you anyway.”
“So how did you treat the nuts?”
“Step #1 is flush any of the pills from the VA. Quit the alcohol and then the cigarettes and any of the other stuff, including marijuana.”
“In other words, they got to clean themselves up.”
“Yes, they must get off the drugs if they ever want to get a handle on the nightmares.”
“Does it work?”
“In all the combat-related PTSD patients, which are the only ones I treat, I haven’t lost any to suicide, not a one.”
“I’d have to say your system works.”
“I failed to mention I have friends who are in the same boat.”
“Well, your system works.”
“Yes, it does, so when someone says, ‘Thank you for your service,’ well, maybe not say it in the first place. Trust me, they don’t want to hear it.”
“So, what should a person do?”
“Say nothing. Just go through life as the best person you can be and let it go at that.”
“Will do. Hope the book sells well.”
“Thank you.”
“And that’s it for this episode so, on behalf of the Professor, this is Henry wishing all of you a goodnight: Goodnight.
“Good show. By the way, is the word ‘nuts’ an approved professional psychiatric word? It is? Great. Burger time: my treat.”
“I’ll Fly Away” (3:09)
