After Four Days of Mayhem, Newsom Speaks

(Jun. 10, 2025) — 9:22 p.m. EDT – Fox News’s Sean Hannity just announced California Gov. Gavin Newsom will give public remarks “momentarily.”

Newson will undoubtedly address President Trump’s nationalizing approximately 2,000 members of the California National Guard to manage violence in Los Angeles, now ending its fourth day, purportedly protesting the recent removal of accused and convicted illegal-alien criminals from the area by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“Gov. Newsom just texted me,” Hannity reported at 9:27 p.m., to inquire if he will carry Newsom’s remarks. The program presented a split-screen depicting National Guardsmen standing in a line in front of a graffiti-defaced building, courtesy of KTTV.

Newsom and Trump have exchanged rhetoric over Newsom’s handling of the crisis.

“I said, ‘Sure, but I’ll fact-check you as I always do,'” Hannity told Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin of his text exchange with Newsom.

Newsom began to speak at 9:31 p.m. EDT, but Fox News could project no sound, to which Hannity asked, “Is that his end or our end?” The camera then cut back to Mullin, the National Guardsmen and a group of protesters waving Mexican and upside-down American flags.

Earlier Tuesday evening, protesters blocked “the 101,” a major artery from Los Angeles to Washington State.

On Monday night Newsom filed a lawsuit requesting for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the federal government’s assumption of control of the state’s National Guard.

The overseeing judge denied the request but ordered the administration to respond to Newsom’s suit by Wednesday.

At 9:39, Newsom’s feed returned with sound, which failed a few seconds later.

Hannity suggested Newsom needed technical assistance.

“They’re traumatizing our communities,” Newsom said upon his return to the air at 9:40 after condemning anyone breaking the law and announcing that more than 200 arrests had been made.

“Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people,” he said, after claiming ICE was arresting “dishwashers” and other laborers, without any reference to the arrestees’ criminal charges.

Newsom said Trump was denying protesters’ their “First Amendment” rights. At 9:42, the audio became garbled, and Hannity again cut away.
