(May 18, 2025) — In an exclusive pre-recorded interview with Maria Bartiromo of “Sunday Morning Futures,” FBI Director Kash Patel told Bartiromo that “just last week,” he and Deputy Director Dan Bongino discovered new information about “Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI probe launched in 2015 on what was discovered to be the false premise of “collusion” between the 2016 Trump campaign and the Russian government.
Upon President Trump’s order, last month hundreds of documents associated with the investigation were released, but new information is to follow, Patel and Bongino revealed.
Patel maintained the FBI was highly politicized under past administrations and he is working to restoring public trust in the institution by focusing on the bureau’s core mission, which is to apprehend criminals and protect the United States from threats.
When Bartiromo asked when those responsible for “Crossfire” will face “accountability,” positing that former FBI personnel have landed media positions with gravitas and paid no real price for their malfeasance, Patel replied, “Just give us another week or two.”
“Everything’s a priority,” Bongino said in regard to purging the nation of crime, neighborhood by neighborhood, as well as other “Level 10” priorities which reach his desk and Patel’s. Anything less pressing, he said, is handled by others.
During the interview Patel disclosed a plan to relocate approximately 1,500 agents out of the J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington, DC, a move he had indicated he would make prior to his nomination and confirmation to head the agency.
“We don’t prejudge any case,” Patel said after Bartiromo asked about the Justice Department’s investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James.
In regard to the approximately 400 arrests last month of those accused of child sexual abuse and human trafficking, Bongino said, some are “talking,” and more arrests are coming.
Advanced FBI training occurs in Huntsville, AL, Patel said, and relocating many agents there will make sense and save taxpayer money.
While the Trump administration has closed the southern border to illegal crossings with Mexico’s help, Patel said, fentanyl and terrorists are entering through America’s border with Canada, which he said must “do more” to stop the flow.
