(Dec. 16, 2024) — Apocalyptic flooding and catastrophic landslides…
Rivers rising and raging, destroying everything in sight.

Ground Zero, a disaster zone of death & devastation.
Appalachian people facing untold trials & tribulations.

Likened to an EMP attack or nuclear detonation…
The lights went out, cutting off all communications.

Roads became rivers.  ‘Hurricane house boats’ floated downstream.
A trail of annihilation and destruction the Blue Ridge has never seen.

Families fleeing to rooftops and climbing up trees…
Hurricane Helene brought Appalachia down on her knees.

Highways collapsing.  Tree limbs breaking and snapping.
Helene was like an earthquake… shattering and zapping.

People in panic…unprepared for storm of epic proportions.
Struggling to survive a tsunami of sorrow and misfortune.

Families, friends and neighbors… overwrought… in tears.
The inexplicable presence of God extinguishing their fears.

Separated by mudslides, raging rivers, rubble and debris…
The resilience of the Appalachian people excels in adversity.

Helene came and crippled and conquered for a time…
But the Appalachian spirit will live on…
with an unbreakable bond brought by the Lord divine.

Hope amid the heartbreak, chaos and confusion…
Communities coming together in loving communion.
