Dear Editor,
Regarding the effects of social media, etc. on today’s young…
Some 20 years ago I was invited to be ‘Principal for a Day’ at a disadvantaged Melbourne northern suburbs secondary school (in a safe Labor electorate, then represented by a Labor Government minister).
At the end of the day, I was invited to address a couple of senior classes, along with several teachers. Reiterating that our then-business was computerised, digital voice-processing technologies for nationwide legal firms and major public hospital networks, I explained, “If all you can do is ‘point & click,’ when it comes to the real world of dealing with people, you will end up ‘disjointed & thick’!”
My comments were greeted with a resounding, “Duhh?”
Yours,
