The Quisling at 1600

(Mar. 29, 2024) — The characterization of Brandon as “the slug at 1600” does not adequately describe him.  A potential better term might be the “quisling slug at 1600.”  Accordingly, a new, abbreviated moniker for the current occupant of the Oval Office is suggested: “the q-slug,” pronounced: “cue-slug.” 

The term “quisling” derives from the surname of one Vidkun Quisling, a traitor who headed a domestic Nazi collaborationist regime in Norway during World War II.  Webster’s defines the term thusly: “One who betrays a trust or an allegiance.”

When the Founders adopted the “natural born Citizen” (“nbC”) provision into Art. 2, § 1, Cl. 5 of the Constitution – the nbC “Eligibility Clause” – their intent was to ensure as much as possible that the president was a person of complete and undivided fidelity and allegiance to the United States …, and the United States alone….”  The president was to be a person who also could be trusted to “faithfully execute the laws.” 

That said, if ever there were proof that the nbC clause is a critical, yet also imperfect guarantee of that objective, it comes in the form of two notables in the nation’s history:  Benedict Arnold, who was not an nbC, and the q-slug at 1600, who is.

Never before in the history of the Republic since, arguably, the Civil War has the nation faced the threat of internal immolation it now suffers.  This condition has been largely, if not entirely, facilitated and brought on by the q-slug at 1600 and his insane (yet some might argue calculated “fundamentally transformational”) policies and fevered edicts…, between gulps of ice cream. 

Among the myriad treasonous acts committed under the current regime, perhaps the most egregious is the outright disregard – indeed, patent disdain – for the rule of law and the Constitution.  As but one example, Art. 2, § 3 mandates that a president “take Care that that the Laws be faithfully executed….”

Ever since the q-slug took office – one might hesitate to describe the act as being lawfully elected to the office – he has done virtually everything within his power to ensure that the laws be not faithfully executed.  Instead, they have been routinely circumvented or, when that doesn’t work, simply disregarded and ignored.  In addition, the provisions of the Constitution have been shredded and sent off to various landfills, also sometimes described as Democrat-blue states and municipalities.

Perhaps the most obvious violation of the Constitution and the rule of law now taking place is the q-slug’s eradication of the southern border and invitation of the rest of the world’s people – almost literally – to illegally enter the nation, sometimes also described colloquially as an “invasion.” 

Indeed, not only does he condone the invasion, he supports and finances it by providing airline flights to illegals from foreign destinations to airports scattered throughout the country…, but he will not identify them out of concern that the attendant felonies might be objected to by those who foolishly adhere to the rule of law.    

In his June 16, 1858 speech to the Republican State Nominating Convention in Springfield, Illinois, soon-to-be President Lincoln noted: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.  I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.  I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided.  It will become all one thing or all the other.”

The First Civil War resulted in vindication of Lincoln’s prediction that the nation would survive…, but a lot of Americans died in the interim.  Another inflection point in the nation’s history is nearing.  If the citizens of this nation value its continued existence – further postponing Benjamin Franklin’s admonition that we have a republic…, if we can keep it – a test of that goal approaches: the November 5, 2024 general election.

It is hoped – fervently – that we can avoid a Second Civil War.  Reduced to its essence, the choice boils down to this: which of two candidates for the presidency is to be preferred…, a flawed and, yes, sometimes banal person, but one who unquestionably loves this country…, or a q-slug who seeks another term to complete the “fundamental transformation” promised in 2008 by “The Hawai’ian?”   

Choose wisely and carefully.  Very carefully.
