Dear Editor,

Nick Carson, released to public domain

As for Leslie Walker (Geelong Advertiser, 5/7), who criticizes a fellow writer who, in the “Voice to Parliament” debate, cites Dr. Martin Luther King, who in fact wanted equality for his children “by the content of their character”, not their race…another fact: instances of so hideous shrieks and cries “Voiced” by terror-stricken Aborigines facing violently cruel deaths via intestine exposing, barbed spears to the abdomen, and brain-splattering, nulla-nulla blows to the skull were gradually silenced by the great work of Christian missionaries arriving in Australia at settlement.

Certainly, there was early violence against Aborigines…including the Myall Creek massacre of Aborigines, which saw seven white men executed by the British by hanging! Yes! The British hanged white-fellas for murdering black-fellas and white-fellas for killing other white-fellas! Not to mention black-fellas for killing other black-fellas as well as killing white-fellas!

You’re shocked, Leslie? Well, as a former science schoolteacher, there’s no doubt you can read up on the late Prof Manning Clark’s “A History of Australia,” Third Vol, “The Beginning of an Australian Civilization” in which Clark documented extensive Aboriginal cannibalism (with Chinamen found especially tasty)!

And Leslie, I am happy (but not for the victims, whose shrieking “Voices” were so heinously silenced) to write back to the GA with well-documented, eye-witnessed evidence of Aboriginal cannibalism on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Yours,

Howard Hutchins
