(Jul. 27, 2022) – In the final 15 minutes of a speech lasting more than an hour and a half on Tuesday, 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump gravitated from the topic of the tremendous rise in violent crime throughout the United States over the last two years to his own “persecution” by political enemies, namely Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and others who promulgated the “Russia, Russia, Russia” narrative which clouded Trump’s time in office and was accompanied by two House impeachments.

A 22-month investigation by then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller, III concluded without evidence that Trump or any of his 2016 campaign associates “colluded” with Russia, and both impeachments resulted in acquittals by the U.S. Senate, the second of which took place after Trump left office in January 2017.

Trump’s remarks in that vein begin at approximately 1:16:00.

At 1:20:00, he touched on the treatment of January 6 defendants as opposed to “what happened to BLM” and “Antifa” following the 2020 summer riots, with Kamala Harris advocating for bail-fund donations. “Something’s going to have to happen, because people are not going to take it much longer,” he said.

Democrats have widely blamed Trump for the incursion into the U.S. Capitol following a rally at which he spoke, detailing examples of what he believed were widespread fraud leading to a “stolen” election.

“Despite great outside dangers, our biggest threat to this country remains the sick, sinister and evil people from within,” he said, invoking “Crazy Nancy Pelosi.”

He referred to “going back to work for the American people,” after which the audience began clapping in rhythm, shouting, “Four more years!”

“Who else could have taken this?” he resumed, recounting that Nixon resigned before “even one impeachment.”

Trump then recounted the story of “a very successful man” approaching him with the question, “How do you take it? How do you get up in the morning?” to which Trump said he responded, “Do I have a choice?” “but I think the people respect it,” he concluded the thought, “and I see it now maybe more than ever.”

He condemned the “fake news media” as he often has in the past, stating, “their approval rating is now lower than Congress, which is saying something.”

“If I renounced my beliefs, if I agreed to stay silent, if I stayed at home and just took it easy, the persecution of Donald Trump would stop immediately. But that’s not what I will do…have to save our country. I can’t do that because I love our country, and I can’t do that because I love the people of our country…” he said.

“And I’m not doing this for me, because I had a very luxurious life; I had a very simple life,” he said. “But I’m doing it for America,.,..because if I don’t, our nation is doomed to become another Venezuela or another Soviet Union, or a very large-scale version of Cuba…”

Changing the subject American history, he praised those who founded the nation, fought on Bunker Hill, “seized victory at Yorktown,” went West and “planted our flag on the face of the moon.” He praised the “courageous men and women gave everything they had to make America into the greatest nation in all of history.”

“But now we are a nation in decline; we are a failing nation…” he said, decrying high inflation, falling stock prices, high energy costs and energy-dependency despite the “liquid gold under our feet” and the abandoning of $85 billion-worth “of the finest military equipment” in Afghanistan.

“…and it would never, ever, ever happen if I was your commander-in-chief,” he said, warning of China’s threats against Taiwan; Iran’s goal of acquiring a nuclear weapon; and China’s military buildup.

In the closing minutes, however, he adopted an optimistic note, stating, “But soon we will have greatness again…and I believe that we will come together and choose instead a future of renewal, revival, recovery, resurgence and in the end, a nation that is even more exceptional than it was before…America’s story is far from over, and in fact, we are just getting ready for an incredible comeback, a comeback that we have no choice but to make…through strength we will restore our safety; through hard work, we will rebuild our prosperity; through courage we will reclaim our liberty…and through unyielding determination together, we will make America stronger, safer, freer, greater, and more glorious than ever before.”
