Dear Editor,
Strike me lucky, and stone the bloody crows; because, as I rarely do, I’m agreeing with David Penberthy, who said, “When you peel it back, this is a job for granny”, HS, 12/6 regarding today’s younger generation’s coming shocks of having to live much more frugally and self- sufficiently as we older generations have experienced (especially those like me who were raised in decidedly working-class homes in then-inner city industrial slum-surrounded Melbourne suburbs.
And we survived – as I married my beautiful, now great-grandmother wife, because she not only looked good, but cooked good; but now, 55 years later, our newly-arrived first great- grandchild’s great Nan still cooks good, but looks even better!
