(Aug. 14, 2020) — On Thursday, August 13, 2020, when Mr. Baier was interviewing presidential advisor Jared Kushner, Baier brought up the subject of a Newsweek op-ed (8-12-2020) regarding Kamala Harris’s constitutional eligibility for VP.  Baier asked Mr. Kushner if he knew anything about the issue.  Of course, Kushner stated that he had not seen the op-ed and therefore could not comment on the subject.  Immediately, Bret Baier came back with his own belief that Senator Harris was born in Oakland, CA (which is true), and thus she was, and I quote Baier, A NATURAL BORN AMERICAN CITIZEN!  I guess it didn’t matter to professor Baier that Harris’s parents at the time of her birth were both citizens of foreign countries (father a Jamaican and mother a citizen of India).
So, if I may be so presumptuous, Kamala Harris is a NATIVE BORN American or, as it is sometimes called, an ANCHOR BABY.  This is a matter of constitutional law, Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5, and the 14th Amendment which is also applicable.  On the other hand, A NATURAL BORN AMERICAN CITIZEN IS A PERSON BORN IN THE UNITED STATES WHOSE PARENTS (both of them) AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD”S BIRTH WERE AMERICAN CITIZENS.  The concept is “NATURAL” born, and arises out of exactly that, nature, and not from man’s words or the written law.  Correct me if I’m wrong.  I’m not an attorney or a constitutional scholar, either.

Mr. Baier, please do your viewers (November’s ELECTORATE) the courtesy of informing them CORRECTLY.  In my opinion, you have a journalistic duty to re-visit what you said on air yesterday and clarify it for everyone.  Frankly, I doubt that you will, even though you are a very highly-regarded member of the news media.  OUR U.S. SUPREME COURT WON’T EVEN TOUCH THE ISSUE WITH THE PROVERBIAL TEN-FOOT POLE (despite its importance, especially these days from a national security standpoint, and obvious relevance to our constitution and also, I contend, because our country in the modern era has already, shall we generously say, mistakenly elected a constitutionally-ineligible individual by the assumed name, “Barack Hussein Obama”).

  1. The MSM is always saying stupid things. I remember the night Trump won the 2016 election. Megyn Kelly announced (regretfully) that Trump was now the Commander and Chief of the United States. I said, What??? Obviously, Bret Bair is just as informed. People should not get their information from over paid stupid people.

  2. Once again, they all (including a few on Fox, who will even dare to mention it!) want to push the narrative that it only matters that the candidate is a CITIZEN. It is still absolutely astounding that they have not educated themselves (or maybe they have and have been told to remain silent on the truth). The only thing that indicates to me is that they HAVE to be getting strong messages from their employers to either not touch it with a ten foot pole, or follow the narrative of lies!

  3. Baier and his ilk are tedious and intellectually lazy. BTW. the very conjuration, “anchor citizenship” is just that, a conjuration. Though still debated among scholars, my reading is that the granting of citizenship to an anchor baby is of highly dubious constitutional credibilty.

  4. Bret Baier should read my White Paper I wrote a few years ago about the “natural born Citizen” term and presidential eligibility clause in Article II of our U.S. Constitution (The Who What When Where Why and How) at this link: He should also view my new banner and information re Kamala Harris’ ineligibility status at my website: I will tweet it to him. — CDR Charles Kerchner (Retired)
