FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

from Josue Jorge, Office of the Mayor, City of Bridgeport, CT

(Jun. 17, 2020) — Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim was joined by Chef Ricky at Grill II in Downtown Bridgeport to announce the next steps of reopening City of Bridgeport restaurants and other businesses; such as nail salons, gyms, pools, and outdoor events.

Mayor Ganim stated, “I’m excited for business doors to open, for owners who didn’t have the opportunity in Phase 1. We need to continue to do our part to reenergize our economy by eating and shopping local in a way that’s enjoyable, but safe and in alignment with the proper protocols.”

In Phase 2 of Reopen CT, restaurants and eateries may operate with indoor dining at up to 50% capacity. Sanitarians from the Bridgeport Health Department will ensure employee safety, proper sanitary conditions, and appropriate social distancing.

Effective June 17th, indoor private gatherings can be held with up to twenty-five participants and up to 25% Fire Capacity. Outdoor gatherings may include up to 100 participants.

As of today, fifty-five restaurants have used existing patio space or have reimagined their daily business operations to include seasonal outdoor seating approved by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal, Zoning, and Health Department.

“It’s a typical indoor, with outdoor dining restaurant.  We have Jamaican and soul food, and of course great drinks like margaritas. We are looking forward to serving Bridgeport people once again, we are very excited about Phase 2,” stated Ricky, chef at Grill II on Broad Street.
