WHAT DOES TOO MUCH LENIENCY YIELD?

Dear Editor,

Juvenile and adolescent violent and other crime in Australia is escalating in proportion to the weakening of consequences, repercussions and retribution handed out by Australia’s parents, education authorities and judiciary! The preceding, coupled with the so-often begetting of feral offspring by feral parents, will only be stemmed by Australia introducing Singaporean law-and-order methods, complete with the application of the rattan (beginning with the parents)!

Yours,

Howard Hutchins
Victoria, Australia

Fortunately, the U.S. Constitution has the 8th Amendment outlawing the infliction of cruel and unusual punishment. Seriously, “the rattan”? I doubt Aussies would stand for “Singaporean Justice”. See: “The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” as well as “Convention against Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. Also see: Divisions 268 and 274 of The Criminal Code Act of 1995; Sec.23Q of the Crimes Act of 1914; Sec.34T of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act of 1979. Why bother correcting your children after you and your parents allowed the indoctrination of children by the communists in the Education System?
