(Mar. 11, 2020) — In a meeting at the White House with Wall Street executives on Wednesday afternoon, President Trump announced that he will be addressing the nation this evening on his administration’s proposed actions for relief to American taxpayers and small-business owners resulting from the worldwide coronavirus outbreak which has disrupted supply chains, global commerce and travel over the last month or more.

More than 1,000 Americans have reportedly become infected, with 30 deaths reported as of Wednesday morning.

Tax cuts, a delay in the April 15 deadline for Americans to file their income-tax returns, and other forms of relief have been proposed to ease the strain on those who may be unable to work due to illness or workplace closures.

Congressional Democrats oppose a tax cut, Trump said during his remarks to reporters at the end of the meeting.

Approximately an hour earlier, Trump tweeted that he is “fully prepared to use the full power of the Federal Government to deal with our current challenge of the CoronaVirus!”

On Friday, Trump signed an $8.3 billion spending bill before traveling to tornado-ravaged Tennessee and later, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  The money is appropriated for Medicare services relating to the coronavirus and the development and administration of vaccines.
