(Apr. 26, 2019) — Computer ergonomics means equipment and the science of designing and refining multiple products to optimize them for human use. The aim of ergonomic design is to achieve awareness of the mechanism and the factors involved in maximizing available resources. Ignoring the factors means an uncomfortable workstation, manual handling, poor seating, bad positioning, and lower personal productivity. Different types of approaches can make your office workstation more ergonomic to increase output. Long hours at work always affects employees’ performance, and the entire body is involved in generating performance. Intense positions and irritations negatively affect human behavior, so prepare your mind to meet the different circumstances.

  1. Sitting Arrangement

A person cannot sit easily until he/she feels comfortable and relaxed in a specific environment, so mental satisfaction and ergonomic devices are needed for a smooth work experience. Pay attention to your chair and set it so that it is comfortable and relaxed. Keep your arms close and sit comfortably in your chair. The body position is very important for workplace performance. Sitting posture, head, neck, arms, and legs working together affects ergonomic efficiency. Use a wireless headset to get some relief from any type of noise disturbance in your workplace. By following ergonomic best practices, the best employee performance can be achieved in an excellent environment.

  1. Keyboard and Mouse Position

Keyboard and mouse positions should be perfect and there should be a standard difference between both devices. Properly set, the keyboard and mouse should allow you to keep your elbows to your sides, and your arms’ angle should be below 90 degrees. The keyboard position should allow some space between your elbow and thighs. The height and a proper space should be between two and three inches. The keyboard placement should be positioned with a negative tilt — down and away from you.  Ideal shoulder and arm distance from the keyboard help to deliver the best employee performance. Some products such as Plantronics CS540 Wireless Headset can be useful for the best-quality sound. Check your desk and sitting arrangements to ensure the best posture for maximum efficiency.

  1. Computer Screen Adjustment

Ergonomics experts suggest that the distance of the screen from your chair should be far so as not to affects your eyes and posture. Keep your monitor/laptop away from your actual sitting arrangement; a standard distance from your screen can help to deliver more output.

  1. Posture Settlement

Choose the best chair, because in the workplace the chair is your best ergonomic friend.  If you experience pain, such as in the tailbone, it will affect your performance and efficiency in the workplace. The shape and style of sitting should be comfortable and adjustable.

  1. Uncomfortable Workstation

A virtual work environment provides mental satisfaction and the ability to work for the organization. A comfortable workstation helps employees to expend their best effort, accomplish all assigned tasks and allow them to make the best decisions for the sake of their company, but a poor environment directly affects the performance of all employees. A virtual office provides a peaceful environment for management and all staff to stay healthy, which helps them to work to their full potential.
