“THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT A SUICIDE PACT”

(Dec. 30, 2018) — This is a follow-up to an earlier post on Newman, California Officer Ronil Singh’s death.  May his wife, Anamika, and her son one day heal from this wholly preventable and politically-inflicted catastrophe.

The tragedy of Officer Singh’s murder grows even deeper.  We now learn that his murderer – an illegal alien Piece Of Scum (“POS”) who crossed over the wall-less border in Arizona two years ago – was arrested some 200 miles away from the Newman, California scene of the murder, in Lamont, a town near Bakersfield, at the home of some of his relatives… who were also, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson, present in the United States illegally.  Two of the POS’s illegal alien relatives were arrested for trying to hide him from law enforcement and lying about it as he tried to flee back into Mexico.  Wait… hide him… and lie to the police… about his involvement in the murder of a police officer?  Really?

Surely that cannot be true, because we are constantly assured by Democrats in general – and in particular, the leftist mayor of Oakland and her liberal apparatchiks who defend California’s “sanctuary state” status – that the sanctuary policies will actually assist law enforcement by promoting the reporting of crimes by “undocumented Democrats” who might otherwise fear exposure to deportation.

We wait – do not hold your breath – for the liberals’ explanation of that excuse to Officer Singh’s widow and five-month old son.  The term “crock” does not come even close to describing the insanity of the argument, and yet, this is what now passes for “reason” to the liberal brain.  The term “brain” is used instead of “mind” when referring to the putrid contents of a leftist’s cranium, because the term “mind” falsely and inaccurately suggests a rational, sentient being.

Then, of course, we learn that of the 53 California members of the U.S. House of Representatives…, one…, just oneGOP Representative Kevin McCarthy – had anything original to say at all about Officer Singh’s murder.  One California Democrat “re-tweeted” a condolence comment made by New York City Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill.

Unsurprisingly, the list of missing-in-action California politicians (imagine that…) included soon-to-be Democrat capo POS Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy (“that-Hawaiian-shutdown-vacation-was-just-what-I-needed”) Pelosi.  Recall that California voters (many of them legal citizens of the United States in her San Francisco “sanctuary” district) again elected her.  Must be something in the water in San Francisco…, downstream from the Market Street transients.

Even as this post is being crafted, a quick search of the “speaker-designate’s” (yes, Virginia … that is what she now calls herself) website reveals zero expressions of grief or condolences over Officer Singh’s murder.  And yet it prominently displays a comment about the death of a child, one Filipe Alonzo-Gomez, who expired after his parents brought him (illegally) over the border to the United States and after U.S. Customs and Border Patrol did everything possible to save his life.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi

Not only did Pelosi’s “constituents” (aka, sycophants) re-elect her to the House, her Democratic “colleagues” elevated her to lead them when they take over control of that chamber in January.  So, following the murder of Officer Singh, sometime next week, the U.S. House of Representatives will be controlled by a sea slug; a rich one, of course, but a disgusting one nonetheless.  Sad…, but oh-so-California.

Adding insult to injury, we now also learn that during the first 11 months of 2018, nearly 8,000,000 attempted purchases of guns were made by illegal aliens.  Those unlawful attempted purchases were identified and denied through the FBI’s NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) intercepts.  Because the vast majority of illegal aliens now in the country are hiding in plain sight in California, it is safe to assume that the vast majority of the attempted illegal gun purchases occurred there, too.  We wait as well for the ACLU to protest the release of this information, since the characterization of these docile “undocumented immigrants” – more than a few of which proudly sport gang tattoos and related “asylum” insignia – as being identified in a “criminal background check” system violates their civil rights.   Let us see where the POS who shot and killed Officer Singh got his murder weapon.

The continuing plunge of California into its dangerous tar pit of moral suicide shows no sign of relenting.  In fact, the “Singh Silence” of the Democrats in Sacramento and Congress and who now are piloting that state into a death spiral seems only to be accelerating.  If California wants to commit suicide, let it.  Some might even argue that the “Big One” could solve a lot of problems, since its effects would largely be felt along the Pacific Coast, where most of the leftist denizens dwell.

And to the extent that California (and other) politicians rely on the Tenth Amendment to justify their “sanctuary state” and “sanctuary city” policies (the states cannot be conscripted into enforcing federal law), they need to remember that the “Constitution is not a suicide pact.”  Ziglar v. Abbasi, 137 S.Ct. 1843, 1883 (2017) (Thomas, J., concurring).  California politicians – whether in Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco or Washington, D.C. – are in no immediate need of laws sanctioning assisted suicide: they are doing fine all by themselves.  The problem, of course, is the “collateral damage” they are inflicting on everyone else, including Californians who still have functioning minds.  Californians who still have functioning minds are now abandoning the tar pit.

Perhaps instead of addressing whether to allow California to “secede” from the union, it is time to start thinking instead of expelling the state from the union and extending the wall another thousand miles or so along the Colorado River, going up from Yuma to Las Vegas, then northwest to Lake Tahoe.
