“GRABBED ME BY THE THROAT AND PUNCHED ME IN THE EYE”

(May 4, 2017) — The following account is not the first which The Post & Email has received indicating that a particular correction officer at the Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX) in Wartburg, TN assaults inmates without provocation and in violation of Tennessee statute.
The letter below will be sent to the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Middle District of Tennessee in short order, as both federal civil rights and state laws could be involved.
We will also send a link to this story to Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) Communications Director Neysa Taylor for comment.
Update, 6:25 p.m. EDT: Taylor’s response reads as follows:
It is not appropriate for me as Director of Communication or as a former broadcast journalist to comment on letters that are posted on a website without substantiating the source or validity of the letters.
