(Jan. 31, 2017) — The Post & Email has just received an email notification that President Donald J. Trump will be announcing his nominee to fill the ninth seat on the U.S. Supreme Court to replace the late Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, at 8:00 PM EST on Tuesday.
The announcement will be made on the White House’s official Facebook page, on which Trump appears to post personally on a regular basis.
The exact message, preceded by the White House logo above, reads:
Tonight at 8pm EST, we will be going LIVE on Facebook for President Trump to introduce his nominee for Supreme Court Justice.
You won’t want to miss it!
Like @POTUS on Facebook and be sure to share with friends and family.
and is followed by a red “Tune In” button leading to the Facebook page.
The vacancy left by Scalia’s passing last February as well as the possible need to appoint additional Supreme Court justices over the next several years was a major issue during the 2016 presidential campaign, convincing many evangelicals who might not have otherwise voted for Trump to support him over Hillary Clinton.
