“I’M A KIND-OF A ‘NO-EXCUSE’ PERSON”

by Sharon Rondeau

(Aug. 17, 2016) — At 1:37 p.m. EDT, Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is speaking in Cleveland, OH as carried by ABC News.

She claimed that her opponent, Donald Trump, has “refused to pay” vendors he has used in his business.  She did not cite specific examples but said that “small businesses were told to go sue Donald Trump” to obtain restitution.

Clinton said that the growth of small businesses will “create the jobs of the future.”

At 1:39, she said she favors an increase in “technical education,” citing the abandoning of “vocational education” some years ago.  “We’re going to bring more technical education…we’re going to bring computer coding…we’re going to bring engineering and design work…” she said, contending that not all employment will require a four-year college degree.

“I want everybody who’s willing to work to be prepared. I don’t want any excuses. I’m a kind-of ‘no-excuse’ person,” Clinton said, repeating her intention to make community college “free.”

She pledged not to raise taxes on the middle class, in contrast to another campaign statement from two weeks ago.

She quoted “John McCain’s economic adviser” as someone who has analyzed her economic plan.  McCain ran for president unsuccessfully against Barack Hussein Obama in 2008.

On Wednesday, the government-watchdog group Judicial Watch reported that the U.S. State Department has promised to release all of the emails it received from Clinton during the FBI’s probe of her private email server.  Clinton has said that none of her emails sent over the unsecured server contained classified information, which FBI Director James Comey contradicted in congressional testimony.

Clinton said that like Trump, she would impose a penalty on companies wishing to move their operations out of the United States.

At 1:48, Clinton said that Trump has ridiculed the disabled, women, and “mocked Gold Star families” in a reference to Khizr Khan, who spoke at the DNC on July 28, setting off a media firestorm in which Trump was widely condemned for responding to Khan’s verbal political sparring.

Clinton cautioned those considering voting for Trump and said that “Friends don’t let friends vote for Trump.”

She pledged to “do something about prescription drug costs” and to provide affordable health care, which “Obamacare” was expected to do after its passage in March 2010.

“We have got to do a better job,” Clinton said, about offering better mental health and addiction services.

Many of her statements were tweeted during her address.

She then promised to “defend Planned Parenthood against all of these partisan attacks,” referring to the objection of many for tax dollars to fund PP in light of its organ-selling scandal as exposed by the Center for Medical Progress.

“I am not at all advocating the repealing of the Second Amendment,” Clinton pivoted at 1:55, stating that she wants to “keep safe” and “unify” America. “I want to keep you safe from gun violence in your own communities,” she said, which was similar to that which Trump said on Tuesday night in West Bend, WI in the wake of destruction following a police shooting on Friday night.

Trump, too, has called for Americans to unite behind a common purpose.

“At the end of the argument, we have got to come together,” Clinton said.  “That’s why it is so important that we seek and find common ground together.”

Her speech ended at 2:00 p.m., after which she stepped off the dais where she had been speaking and was immediately closely surrounded by Secret Service agents.

ABC’s live feed cut to new programming at 2:07 p.m.
