Politics as Usual

REPUBLICANS HAVE “DECEIVED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE YET AGAIN”

Second page of 2012 Republican Party platform

(Jan. 4, 2016) — As is the custom, both major political parties published another “Party Platform” for the 2012 election.  Same baloney; different day.  Following is an excerpt from the Republican Party Platform for 2012:

“We possess an owner’s manual: The Constitution of the United States, the greatest political document ever written. That sacred document shows us the path forward. Trust the people. Limit government. Respect federalism. Guarantee opportunity, not outcomes. Adhere to the rule of law. Reaffirm that our rights come from God, are protected by government, and that the only just government is one that truly governs with the consent of the governed.

The principles written in the Constitution are secured by the character of the American people. President George Washington said in his first inaugural address: “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” Values matter. Character counts.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan understand these great truths. They share a positive vision for America – a vision of America renewed and strong. They know America’s best days lay ahead. It will take honest results-oriented, conservative leadership to enact good policies for our people. They will provide it.

We respectfully submit this platform to the American people. It is both a vision of where we are headed and an invitation to join us in that journey. It is about the great dreams and opportunities that have always been America and must remain the essence of America for generations to come.

May God continue to shed his grace on the United States of America.”

A reading of a party platform leads one to assume that the platform is at least analogous to, or the intended outcome of, that platform if and when that party is victorious in the ensuing election. The Republican Party gained a majority in both houses of the Congress but not the Presidency. The Party Platform as written, though not a contract, does at least “infer” that the Republican members of both houses will follow that ‘Greatest Political Document Ever Written’ and have taken an oath to do so.

Paul Ryan has attained a power far beyond his abilities. The Speaker of the House is obligated to set the tenor of the House of Representatives. Ryan, as Boehner before him, has failed to lead in harness with the Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell. Acting in league with or in concert with the Senate Majority Leader, McConnell, the Republican Majority has abdicated, joined the Minority and, in the process, deceived the American people yet again. Their abject failure is going to make it difficult, though not impossible, to capture the Oval Office in 2016.

The attitude of the Republican Party Leadership in the Congress is obviously, “To Hell with the People; We are the bosses.” That attitude is at crosspurposes with their stated intentions set forth in that meaningless diatribe so cryptically called the Republican Party Platform. Politics as Usual.

The Preamble above twice mentions the word “Character.” That is a quality in noticeable absence for the past 188 years with some few exceptions; notably Abraham Lincoln, Harry S. Truman, Herbert Hoover and Ronald Reagan.

Any and all members of the 114th Congress are, without exception, guilty of Dereliction of Duty by failing to respect their Oath of office and guilty of Misprision of Felony/Treason for failing to prepare and submit Articles of Impeachment against Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama.

The “Vision” for America mentioned in the Preamble above cannot and will not become a reality until Obama is impeached, Donald Trump and his running mate, Fiorina or Cruz, and an entirely NEW House and 33 or 34 New Senators are elected on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. This must then be followed by an Article V Convention of States to modestly ‘tweak’ our magnificent United States Constitution. It was perfect in 1787 but fell victim to obscene, characterless political hacks over the intervening years.

First order of business, IMMEDIATELY; request proper legal authorities to charge all members of Congressional leadership with Misprision of Felony/Treason. Require the Congress to call an immediate Article V Convention of States. And lastly, under the Administration of President Donald J. Trump we can and will eliminate political party factionalism and return to the notion of a ‘Federalist” mode of government set up by our Founding Fathers.
