“THE WORST AGREEMENT IN U.S. HISTORY”
by Capt. Joseph R. John (Ret.), ©2015, Chairman, CombatVeteransForCongress
(Sep. 28, 2015) — The below-listed article, posted on the Special Operations Speaks website, provides details of what an endorsed and elected Combat Veteran For Congress, Senator Thomas B. Cotton, Cpt-USA (R-AR-Senate) said with regard to the International Iranian Nuclear Weapons Treaty (called an “Agreement” by Obama).
Senator Cotton has been a leading opponent of that very dangerous agreement. Originally Hillary Clinton entered into negotiations with Iran in 2008, and John Kerry completed the agreement when he replaced her as Secretary of State. The Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement has been termed the worst agreement in US History by the Republican Presidential field of candidates.
Obama has been siding with Iran, the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, which has been murdering thousands of Americans for over 35 years, while opposing the United States’ Middle East Sunni allies over the last 70 years, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. At the same time Iran has been sheltering Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorist fighters in Iran, the leaders of Iran have been leading demonstrators on a weekly basis shouting “Death to America,” and providing the Taliban with IEDs to kill and maim thousands of US military personnel in Afghanistan. While that was going on, Obama was facilitating Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons, surface-to- air missiles, and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) that will be able to eventually strike the United States.
Senator Cotton said, “Obama’s disregard for the treaty process is the height of hubris. He mistook his desire for a legacy for a vital national interest.” Senator Cotton added, “It [is] bad precedent to allow a nuclear arms control agreement with a sworn enemy to go into effect without even a bare majority of support.”
Senator Cotton’s remarks followed the Senate’s second vote by Democrats to block a resolution disapproving of Obama’s dangerous historic pact with Iran giving Iran nuclear weapons. The Senate voted 56-42 for the measure, short of the 60 votes needed to move forward. Senator McConnell could have passed it, using the nuclear option that Harry Reid used against the Republicans in the Senate, where a bare 51-vote majority could have rejected the blocking Democratic vote. It appears McConnell refused to do so because of a the commitment he made to Boeing for large financial payoff they made to him.
Senator Cotton has been a vocal critic of the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement from the onset. He wrote an open letter to the Iranian leader earlier this year asserting that Congress can void the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement’s details at any time. Senator Cotton added that any Commander-in-Chief who replaces Obama can revoke the Iran deal at any time.
Senator Tom Cotton, Cpt-USA (R-AR) joined the four below-listed other endorsed Combat Veterans For Congress in warning collectively that the dangerous International Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement poses an unacceptable national security risk for the nation, which included the following separate warnings:
- Cong. Ryan Zinke, Cdr-USN (Ret) (SEAL) (R-MT-1) called the Iranian Agreement a very dangerous agreement that should have been approved only as a Treaty by the Senate.
- Cong. Steve Russell, LTC-USA (Ret) Ranger) (R-OK-5) said that Obama acted without the consent of the people in approving the Iranian Agreement.
- Cong. Lee Zeldin, Maj-USAR (JAG) (R-NY-1) exposed Obama’s dishonest claims about 24/7 inspections of Iran’s Nuclear Weapons Development Program that will never happen.
- Cong. Jeff Denham, SSgt-USAF (R-CA-10) warned because of the dangerous Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement that Obama approved, that “Our nation faces greater dangers and higher stakes than ever before.”

Even before the International Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement was approved by the US Congress, Iran was violating previous sanctions that restricted international travel by MajGen Ghasem Suleimani, Commander of the Quds Force. That sanction was put in place by the UN because Suleimani was responsible for killing thousands of Western military personnel. Iran violated that UN sanction and let Suleimani travel to Russia to negotiate the sale of Advance S-300 Surface-to-Air Missiles to be purchased with the $150 billion dollars that Obama will be releasing to Iran, which they will use to fund the acquisition of weapons with which to destroy Israel.
