“Sire, they approach from the North; 30,000 strong, they are. They’ll be crossing the river this time come tomorrow.
Choose your best answer:
1. Sound the Alarm! Call to arms! Meet at the castle!
2. Sound the Alarm! Call to arms! Meet at the river!
Welcome to “Basic Military Strategy 101.” Today we’ll introduce the concepts of “pro-active” and “re-active,” otherwise known as “taking the initiative” or “Let’s wait and see what happens.”
First, let me say a few words about being “pro-active.” As you’ve learned in your other courses, the most common blunder of all in the field of battle is over-extending the lines of communication, supplies, and failure to keep an avenue open for a “strategic withdrawal,” otherwise known as “retreat.”
Let me say a few words about “retreat.” We all make mistakes, even Admirals and Generals. Alright, that’s enough laughing. Perhaps the most difficult decision a leader can make is knowing when, and how, to conduct a successful retreat. There’s nothing derogatory in the word “retreat.” Think of “retreat” as yet another option in your quiver to use in the fight against the enemy and you’ll do okay.
Many a battle has been won, or brought to a stalemate, by a successful retreat. Sometimes a retreat can turn into an ambush when the enemy thinks they’ve routed you. A rout happens when the signs of doom have been ignored: in other words, the lines of retreat have been put in dire jeopardy. Reference General Washington during the Revolutionary War about a successful retreat, and reference Custer’s Last Stand about over-extended lines.
Other than over-extending, being pro-active is the best defense, as in “The best defense is a good offense.”
To be forced into the state of being “re-active” is admitting an abject failure of communication, as in “Where are our spies?” Hey, it happens: Pearl Harbor. Being “re-active” is allowing the enemy to poke here and there to discover your weak points, reference the Germans’ response to D-Day. Even after the allies landed on the Normandy beaches, Hitler still believed that the main landing would be at Calais, 180 miles to the South.
So what I’d like for you to take away from today’s lesson is that a static defense, for instance the castle in our question, is no match for a dynamic strategy: pro-active; moving; in motion; go in for the kill when the enemy least expects it. An example would be if the Canadian Army were caught attacking the tourists at Glacier National Park and our response would be to nuke Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec. End of story.
But then, in the example of Canada attacking the USA, if the Canadians knew that our response would be overwhelming, utter devastation, they wouldn’t even think twice about attacking us because they wouldn’t even have thought once about attacking us in the first place.
Which brings us to the conclusion, and the point, of the first lesson in “Basic Military Strategy 101.” Islam is today’s enemy, and yesterday’s; but it doesn’t have to be tomorrow’s enemy. Western Civilization has the military might to wipe our enemies off the face of the earth. We have to start somewhere, so we might as well wipe ISIS off the face of the earth.
“Wipe off” means take names; render moot; eliminate; do away with; kill. This is what we need to do. This is what we must do. We’ve been sitting around for 1,400 years ignoring Islam’s stabs at our weak points, and our weakest point is in the White House: Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Muslim Brotherhood, and the current Administration, including the pro-Muslim Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Pentagon for endorsing destructive — for our troops — Rules of Engagement.
You get the picture, or do you? Let me add this one little fact at the end of our class. The USA has used nuclear devices twice in anger thus far and I see no impediment not to use nukes in the future, like now, against Iran and against ISIS.
Inform Iran thusly: You will cease and desist any playing around with “nuclear energy” or we will use the bomb on you. We will send inspectors to your country and if they are hindered in any way we will, 1) raid the bank accounts of your Ayatollahs and 2) kill all of your leaders, and if it takes a nuke to do it, we’ll do it.
As far as ISIS goes: go in with everything we’ve got and wipe them off the face of the earth. Being “re-active” will get us killed. Being “pro-active’ will win this war once and for all.
Attention!
Class dismissed.
