CONGRESS “WANTS TO GET IT RIGHT”

A reader of The Post & Email with whom we are well-acquainted reported both by email and phone that during a phone call with a congressional staffer on Thursday about several concerns, a congressional staffer told the caller that “the Congressman and Congress are “working hard right now to draw up articles of impeachment and they want to get it right knowing the seriousness.”

The caller told us that he or she had been relating numerous complaints against Barack Obama by “reading right off the flyer” publicizing an event calling for Obama’s impeachment on June 14.

The flyer calls Obama a “usurper” and “liar-in-chief” and cites him for being “anti-Christian” and “anti-American,” among other transgressions.  In a list of grievances, the organizers of the protest wrote that Obama has used “the IRS and FBI to interfere with the rights of grassroots organizations,” murdered Americans “without due process,” and intentionally caused racial strife among Americans, among other things.

The caller said that he or she made several calls on Thursday to discuss a series of resolutions asking putative Attorney General Eric Holder to resign or for Congress to impeach him.  The caller also raised the matter of the December 2010 court-martial of Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, who told his chain of command that he could not follow orders until Obama proved that he was eligible to hold the office of president and commander-in-chief.

Over more than a year, Lakin had approached his congressional delegation and Army chain of command with the question of Obama’s constitutional eligibility which had swirled since 2008 but received no response.

Obama claims he was born in Hawaii to an American mother and Kenyan father.  Article II of the U.S. Constitution requires that the president and commander-in-chief be a “natural born Citizen.”

Lakin was denied the ability to obtain discovery in his own defense by Col. Denise Lind, who claimed that the procuring of Obama’s original birth certificate from Hawaii could prove “embarrassing” to Obama.  Convicted of disobeying an order and “missing movement,” Lakin spent five months at Ft. Leavenworth prison, during which time the White House released an image purported to be Obama’s long-form birth certificate stating that he was born in Hawaii.

Within 24 hours, the image was widely denounced as a forgery.  A nearly-three-year criminal investigation by the Maricopa County, AZ Cold Case Posse begun in September 2011 and still ongoing determined in early March 2012 that the image is a “computer-generated forgery.”

The posse also found Obama’s Selective Service registration form to be fraudulent.

The caller told us that the staffer did not appear “pressured” and did not attempt to withdraw the declarative statement during the approximately five-minute conversation.

“How did this conversation come about? we asked.

“Today I called five or ten congressmen and I tried to focus on the fact that Lt. Col. Terry Lakin was court-martialed and imprisoned and this guy named Bergdahl was released after he had converted to Islam, and I tried to draw a contrast after reading an article.  That’s what I focused on.”

On May 31, Bowe Bergdahl was recovered from the Haqqani network on Saturday in an exchange of five high-level Taliban fighters who had been imprisoned at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for a number of years.  On Thursday, Obama offered “no apologies” for the prisoner swap despite rising outrage from U.S. representatives, senators, Bergdahl’s former fellow soldiers and the media.

Obama has been said to have violated a federal law which states that Congress must receive a 30-day notice before detainees from Guantanamo Bay are relocated.

Also on Thursday, Sen. Lindsey Graham said that now that the White House has indicated it wants to transfer another prisoner, “lawmakers would call for President Obama’s impeachment if he released more prisoners from Guantanamo Bay without congressional approval.”  Fox News that Taliban members have now been instructed to kidnap American soldiers in order to effect the release of more “Gitmo” prisoners by the Obama regime.

“Was it Jeff Lichter’s article?” we asked.

“Yes, it was.  It was pretty-much short and to the point, and that’s what I focused on.”

After members of Bergdahl’s former platoon came forward to reveal that they knew the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance and labeled him “a deserter” and possibly “a traitor,” the Obama regime, in the form of National Security Adviser Susan Rice, stated on national television that Bergdahl had “served with honor.”  Other members of the regime attempted to discredit the soldiers who were first-hand witnesses to the events as they unfolded.

Rice had lied to the American people in September 2012 following the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans.

He or she continued:

You’ve probably seen the people who are going to be out there at UCI in California, and I brought that up as well.  I was actually reading off the “America, You’ve Been Punked” flyer.  I didn’t even get halfway through it and he (or she) interrupted me and said, “We understand what you’re saying.  Congress is working right now on this issue and drawing up Articles of Impeachment.  They know the seriousness of it and they want to get it right.”

The caller then told us:

I may be off a word or two, but I’m not taking anything out of context, and he or she mentioned it again.  When he or she said that, I really didn’t expect to hear that at all, and I thought, “I don’t know what it was that I said…”

He or she said that some of the staffers with whom he or she spoke were “familiar with Terry Lakin.”  The caller also brought up Operation American Spring (OAS), a grassroots action which called upon millions of Americans to go to Washington, DC and remain until their they were granted redress of their grievances against Holder, Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Speaker of the House John Boehner and others perceived as corrupt.

Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution lays out the means by which the chief executive can be removed from office for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”   The House of Representatives prepares Articles of Impeachment, and, if approved by a majority, the Articles are brought to trial in the Senate, with the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court presiding.
