“The Spirit of 1776”

(Dec. 9, 2013) — Improbable as it may seem, the decisions of our ancestors affect each of us today. We are the descendants of all who have gone before us, not necessarily what some consider “direct” relatives, but all the people of the past. The world of today is not the same world as yesterday, but some things have remained the same for thousands of years. Our way of life, our values, are the direct result of trial and grave errors, errors that not only cost in suffering and lives, but also time, which is the final equalizer of everything in the universe.

We believe we are an unique species, and indeed we are, for we have the ability to chart our travels through uncharted territory, meaning the future, a place where nothing has gone before us. But, at the same time (no pun intended), we live in the here and now, yet the here and now is built upon the thousands of yesterdays, and we know what happened yesterday. Because we know the outcome of the events and decisions that led to yesterday’s conclusion, we can extrapolate certain “truths” that we’ll be facing today. If we don’t change something, we can certainly expect the same results tomorrow, which will be our future. We have no choice.

Yesterday you bought a newspaper and a coffee. You paid a tax on the items and went about your day. This morning, today, you did the same: paid a tax on purchased items. So here’s the question: your paycheck was taxed, and then you paid an additional tax every time you used your money that was taxed even before you got it. But, even worse, you know that a good portion of the tax money you shell out every day is wasted. You  know that the American Revolution was started by the colonists because of being taxed to death, just as you are today.

So, what we have here is a repeated process, a revolving door: politicians gain control, then fiscal responsibility goes out the window. There’s no reason why the government can’t operate on the same principles of private enterprise except for the Bozos that make up the rules, which favor incompetence over ability.

Study the birth and death of Socialism and you’ve just figured out why Socialism is the death knell of a people: over-taxation robs people of their dignity, and a person without pride is one worthless human being. Americans are a proud people; we overcome adversity; we offer Good Deeds (we defeated Japan and Germany — we fought a TWO-FRONT war and won); we go home when we’re done helping. We could’ve made France and every other country in Europe and in the Pacific States, but it’s better to have grateful allies than ungrateful Taxpayers, as King George learned the hard way.

So who are we? Well, this I’ll say: we don’t like being taken advantage of. This so-called problem with illegal immigrants isn’t a problem at all. Deport them all. War with Islam? Deport the Muslims. The IRS is acting illegally and out of control? Abolish the IRS and have a National Sales Tax, ONE tax for all. Period. Homeland Security out of control? Abolish it. Our high school students not getting it? Fire incompetent teachers who fail to teach the three R’s. Healthcare? Not the government’s job. We need the Draft back. We need Americans acting like Americans instead of some Fascist clowns stealing everything they can get their grubby little hands on. We need some common sense. We need another revolution to kick the bums out of Washington, the petty little bureaucrats who hide under rocks, who never get fired for being incompetent, for not doing the job for which they were hired. We need to replace our police force with Veterans who know the meaning of “protect and defend the Constitution.”

Who are we? Well, we’re sure not afraid of the incompetents who are trying to destroy our country, this I can tell you.
