“THE ONE THING WE AGREE ON IS FREEDOM”

by Sharon Rondeau

The founder of the Truckers’ Ride for the Constitution believes that Americans and people everywhere need to unite to preserve freedom

(Oct. 25, 2013) — The individual who first conceived of the “Truckers’ Ride for the Constitution” which was held on October 11-13 in Washington, DC spoke with The Post & Email about a larger event which he and others are planning for next year.

“The founder” told us that a “Global Strike Day” will take place on April 15, 2014.  He is coordinating the plans through the Patriot Command Center, which has recently been redesigned and will be updated constantly between now and then.  The organization has also launched a Facebook page specifically for the event.

The event calls for businesses to remain closed on April 15 to protest wars, corrupt governments, corporate greed, and social problems which the founder believes can be resolved if people talk to one another.

The founder said that he and others do not wish the next event to be clouded with “politics,” which he believes crept in to the Truckers’ Ride earlier this month.

“We all need to come together to fix this country.  Every American needs to be involved in this.  That’s what our country is based on:  freedom.  That’s the true meaning of the Constitution.  We put out a simple solution:  ‘Don’t re-elect anybody.’  It’s taken hold, and people are saying, ‘What a great idea!’  All of the groups, Rolling Thunder included, don’t want politics.  We want people of all faiths and all races to participate.  People are coming on board. They are realizing that if we lose our freedom because of all the political games, we all lose.  It’s We the People, and we want their voices to be heard.  It’s the awakening of America.”

The founder told us that people in New Zealand and other foreign countries have committed to participating.  He said the shutdown day will encompass “New York City; Washington, DC; every state capital; every county office building; and every mass media outlet around the country.”  He said that there will be “no racist remarks, no hate speeches; this is about We the People working together to solve the problems in our country.”

“We put a feature onto the website that shows that this is what America is:  we’re a multicultural, diverse country.  We used to have community…the values are gone.  So as a whole, we’re settling a couple different things.  We’re telling DC we’ve had enough.  We’re telling the rogue governments we’ve had enough of the wars and that We the People want to be able to communicate with each other and solve the problems which the governments can’t solve.  It’s such a massive effort because more and more people are coming on every day, and different groups with different opinions and ideologies and values.  But we all agree on one thing:  freedom, to be able to communicate, and to work things out.  And everybody has told me one thing:  we’re never going to get along on certain issues, but the one thing we do agree on is freedom.”

“We need to do this, or we’re going to have nothing,” the founder told us.  “It will be all of us coming together the way it needs to be done:  peacefully, but with a show of strength and a strong enough message that if things don’t change, then so be it.  They have to listen.  I know that they’ve made comments that they’re going to start listening now; we need to make sure they’re going to keep listening.  We want to see change.”

The founder said that “all kinds of people are forming committees” for the event in order to carry out “what was intended by our Founding Fathers for this country.”  He said he is working to gain support from various cultural and religious groups to promote “healing” and “understanding.”

The Post & Email will be providing updates on Global Strike Day as they become available.
