GOVERNMENT FLEECING OF THE CITIZENS

Is government nothing but a merry-go-round for the taxpayers?

(Sep. 10, 2013) — My son was around five or six years old when I took him to the carnival that was in town for the weekend. We did the “Throw the Rings” and the Cotton Candy routine, then it was time for the Merry-go-Round. I purchased a ticket for the kid and lifted him up on the “horse” of his choosing. I use the word “horse” loosely ’cause I never saw a turquoise horse with a silver mane, with a gold growth coming out of its forehead, which, I suppose, would make the “horse” a real make-believe-unicorn.

So the ride starts and I’ve got to be there or the tyke will fall off the, well, you got me: unicorn. We make it around when this scruffy-looking guy comes up to collect the tickets, so I hand him the ticket, and he just stands there looking at me. I look back and say “And?”

He asks “Where’s your ticket?”

“What ticket?”

Your ticket. You’re on the ride, aren’t you?”

“Sure thing, Sherlock, I’m on the ride but I’m not going for a ride: who’s going to hold the kid on?”

“Five dollars, one adult ticket. You no pay, off you go.”

Fleeced on a Merry-go-Round, can you believe it? Look, I’m not one to be speechless and I’m not a little guy, and I came the closest in my life from picking the Carney up by one hand and throwing him off his “ride.” But I didn’t. No, I reached in and handed him a $5 bill and that was the end of the episode that I’ll always remember as the “Great Carousel Fleece.”

And through the years, as I’ve gotten older and, I hope, wiser, I see myself, all of us, getting fleeced every which way to Sunday. It’s a rare deal when you can even break even these days. I bought a used car for a thousand, put a couple more into it, and, here it is, four years later, and the sucker gets 36 mpg around town, hot heat and cold air. How about them apples?

But if the government is involved, in any imaginable shape or form, no matter what it is, a fleece has taken place, is taking place, or will take place; count on it. Or, to be 100% accurate, the government will do the counting.

We have a finite number of people in this country, and we somehow manage to elect the most fiscally incompetent of us all. Now, you and I, if we have ‘X’ amount of money and we want something that costs X+Y, well, I guess we do without or, get this, save until we have the ‘Y’. Now our elected representatives just borrow the ‘Y’ with no consideration of the interest payments involved because it’s not their money (so they say).

A SWAT team breaks down the door and ransacks the house.  The trouble is, it was the wrong house. Rather than force the citizens of the town or county to pay for the inexcusable blunder, the people who did the damage should be required to pay the repair bill.

An illegal immigrant runs a red light and leaves a teenager paralyzed. The trouble is, the illegal immigrant was stopped for speeding last week by the local police department and not fined and deported. Rather than make the town pay for the hospital bills, the officer and the police department should pay out of their paychecks.

The point is that if people would treat taxpayers’ money as their own (which, for real, it is) maybe we wouldn’t have the debt that we have. Maybe our cities wouldn’t be filing for bankruptcy. Maybe people wouldn’t be getting a free ride without doing anything. Want Welfare, Food Stamps? Work for it.

I know a guy who looks down on people who work or anyone who has served in the military. His reasoning is that if they were smart enough to game the system, they wouldn’t have to work. Pride? Oh, yeah, he’s got plenty of pride. He takes great pride in having people go to work so he can collect, and collect he does.

And you know what? We make people like that. We push them through public school and when they “graduate” they are functionally illiterate. We give them money for doing nothing, and we’re surprised and shocked when they have no work ethic and no respect for those that do.

Of course it doesn’t have to be this way, but since it is this way, face it:  we’re all just being taken for a ride.

  1. Sorry to say guys, until Hillary orders the heat off of the judicial, so that someday we can see many of the criminal presentments reach discovery to prosecute these creeps or “administration”, no one is going to be prosecuted for the current theft and crimes. America is waking up 5 years too late, we have been attempting and serving Criminal Presentments against these freaks for over 5 years now and recently found out what has been going on behind closed doors. Too many judges don’t want to lose their position, jobs, lives and they are worried since Hillary imposed her charm on them, no Criminal Presentments will reach discovery under her watch. They have covered their steps all the way since 1994 when they began scrubbing all of Bari Shabazz’s background from every crack and cranny to now reach full coup and usurpation mode. Thank you press and low life America for letting America be forced to it’s lowest level in decades for the benefit of Criminal Democrats, Socialist/Communist dead beats. Pray for out Veterans that have been beaten, tazered, imprisoned, tortured by Obama’s henchmen for trying to stand up for the Constitution while public trustee runs rampant and we have no channels to remove them without Discovery starting a case. ALL IT TAKES IS ONE JUDGE TO START AND STAMP “DISCOVERY” AND THEN WE MAY HAVE THEM PROSECUTED. ASK HILLARY HOW THAT WORKS. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all of the time.

  2. Thanks Pal – you just ruined some of my most precious memories – I used to like merry-go-rounds. I wasn’t too nuts about ferris-wheels.
