Report: Dr. Ben Carson Under IRS Audit

CAN THIS POSSIBLY BE A COINCIDENCE?

Dr. Ben Carson will be retiring in June from his position as Chief of Pediatric Neurology at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. It is unclear if he will seek a career in politics following his retirement.

(May 28, 2013) — In a breaking report on Tuesday evening, Frontline News, which focuses on events in Maryland, has reported that Dr. Benjamin Carson, who has been outspoken in his opposition to Obama’s health care program and other policies, stated on Friday night that he has been audited by the Internal Revenue Service.

A link from the headline shows that Dr. Carson spoke at the referenced Grace Hour Fundraiser Banquet on Friday, May 24 in Towson, MD.

Over the past two weeks, revelations regarding the IRS’s targeting of organizations against government spending, Obamacare, abortion, alternative marriage, and other issues which had applied for non-profit status have ignited a congressional investigation and the suspension of at least one agency supervisor.

On Monday, The Post & Email compiled a list of groups and business entities which have been subjected to audits or additional scrutiny for tax-exempt status since 2010 which is by no means exhaustive.

Carson spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast in February of this year, after which he began to appear on various news programs to discuss the issues of health care, the IRS, education, and America’s future given what he sees as excessive spending by government.

In an internet search after the headline appeared, a blogger had predicted that Carson would be audited after his address at the National Prayer Breakfast and before the IRS scandal broke earlier this month.

Dr. Carson has worked at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery for many years and is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  He has been described as “a philanthropist, author and motivator of youth to rise above circumstances of upbringing or hardship to lead meaningful, accomplished and compassionate lives. Motivated by a mother who challenged her sons to strive for excellence and insisted on reading over TV-viewing and other idle pursuits, he moved on from a childhood life of poverty in Detroit’s inner city to graduate from Yale University, 1973, and University of Michigan School of Medicine, 1977. He subsequently trained in pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins before joining its faculty.”

Carson heads an organization which encourages young people to exceed academically and founded a second charity which helps to pay for medical expenses for neurology patients which are not covered by insurance.

He grew up in poverty with a single mother who had a third-grade education.

Following his address at the National Prayer Breakfast, Carson revealed that the White House had asked to review a transcript of his speech on several occasions prior to the event, at which time Carson responded that he would speak without note cards or a written transcript.

Obama has been known to stutter when giving an address without his teleprompter.  Others have said that Obama stutters when he fails to tell the truth.

Carson was a featured guest speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference in mid-March.
