“WE CAN AGREE ON THE CONSTITUTION”

(Aug. 8, 2012) — When I say I’ve lived all over our great land, I mean that I’ve had voter registration and library cards from sea to sea and from border to border. And, thanks to Uncle Sam, I’ve traveled around the world and had the pleasant opportunity to visit many countries. Where I now reside, an obituary will list the survivors: wife, two children, three grandchildren and two dogs, and name them all. My neighbors mind their own business but will give you the shirt off their back in times of need.

We understand that many government employees do an honest day’s work for their paycheck and that their jobs are a necessary burden on us taxpayers. On my street we have a state trooper and a county librarian, and they are decent folk. We have the self-employed and retirees.  Some have young children; some are in college:  a real cross-section of America. We have our political disagreements, and there are probably more things we disagree on than agree, but there are three subjects on which we are in total agreement.

The first is our universal consensus on the United Nations being an organization that does not represent the best interests of democracy and freedom. On the contrary, the UN promotes the unabated spread of Islam.  It has gone so far as to debate initiating international laws prohibiting exposing the truth about Islam in that the moniker “religion” is but a veil disguising a Totalitarian political philosophy that dictates the involuntary servitude of women. We understand “Sharia Law” and believe these crazed lunatics when they hold up signs saying “ISLAM WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD.”  We get it, and we don’t have any respect for the politicians in Washington for allowing the enemy, Muslims, in our country.

How anyone can be an Obama supporter and believe in the Constitution is beyond my understanding, but we have one on our block, a teacher, no less. But then there are always a few who don’t get it, and never will, in any group. This teacher lives in the cloistered world of academia, where the written word is sacrosanct and reality has no business disagreeing with his world view. Nonetheless, he professes his love and respect for the Constitution, and on that note we are in agreement. By the way, the professor admires Glenn Beck and believes that “Obama showed his Birth Certificate on Factcheck in 2008.”  On the Terry Lakin affair he professes, “I’m not aware of that.”

Thirdly, whenever two or more neighbors are out talking and the decibels rise, you just know they are discussing the latest stupidity from Homeland Security, or Washington in general, about immigration. You see, in My America, the Ten Commandments have nothing to do with religion, but makes common sense if people are to get along. That’s the crux.

You can categorize people in many ways: the givers and the takers, winners and losers, those who believe in the common good of following the rules and those who hold no respect for rules and therefore no respect for those who follow the rules. We have a major problem here in America which has been caused by the fools in Washington, and there doesn’t seem to be anyone who cares about the massive repercussions of the harm it is doing to the very fabric of our nation. Illegal immigration is a very serious problem that is a deliberate attempt to discard our way of life by substituting the rule of law under the Constitution to the rule of “non-enforcement” by the federal government.

The daily support of illegal immigration from government departments, the administration, and silence from congress is a loud and clear sign to us Americans that Washington has a plan that bodes ill to us God fearing Christians who believe in, among others, “Thou shall not steal”. That brouhaha a couple of years ago about the Ten Commandments in the courthouse had nothing to do about “Honor your father and mother” or “You shall not commit adultery”, but everything  about “Thou shall not steal”. Picture this: a huge sign, hanging from the ceiling above the front of the stage in both houses of congress: “THOU SHALL NOT STEAL”.  What are the chances of that ever happening?

It’s true that illegal immigration puts an undue burden on the American taxpayer, we’ve all seen the numbers from the Social Security Administration, the GSA, even private accountants have put their two cents in. An illegal immigrant who is in America today is stealing from us, there’s no two ways about it, there’s no way to sugar coat it so the theft is disguised. Americans don’t want illegal immigration, yet there’s not one American that has any objection to “legal immigration”.

So there you have it, a report from “average street, USA”. We don’t want the UN nor illegal immigrants, but we love our Constitution. Makes sense to us.
