“OUR CONSTITUTION WAS FRAMED ON IT”

by Todd Sweet, ©2012

(Apr. 17, 2012) —[Editor’s Note:  The following is one of many letters received from Todd Sweet, an inmate at the CCA facility in Clifton, TN.  After spending years as a criminal, he has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and repented of his transgressions.  At the same time, he has given detailed accounts of the government corruption he observed in Monroe County, TN and how he believes the situation could be changed.  Sweet has not only witnessed, but also been a part of, a deceitful plan to elicit a false confession from an inmate at the behest of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.  The detective involved received no discipline, but rather, went on to obtain a position in security at a bank.

Sweet believes that those in government – the “law breakers,” as he terms them – could “use their authority for the good” rather than bow to temptation and evil.  He has stated that the reformation of our nation will occur after people return to practicing Christian principles, as they were the foundation of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

In fear of sounding like a rambling extemist [sic] ….

Oh wait.  I dont [sic] care if thats [sic] how I sound.  You can just call me a Jesus Freak!

Let us step away from corruption for a brief time and get to the heart of the matter.

Families.  Mothers and Fathers not implanting morals and Godly beliefs into their Children.  Moms and Dads not showing a good example.  This topic stills [sic] deals with corruption, just at the foundation of it.

Lets [sic] face it, if Mom and Dad or family would have laid a solid foundation, the corrupt would not be corrupt.  That, or they did and along the way your foundation grew weak to the stresses of satan.

I myself was not raised in a Christian home – but we were not anti Christian home – but we were not anti Christian either.  Both of my grandmothers were/are Christians.  My mother was more of a closet reader of the Bible but I know she believes.  Me and my sister [sic] went with most of our neighborhood to Bible school during summer days and every Easter my father made certain we were at a church.  Not “our” church – but church none-the-less [sic].

Now.  Do not take any of the above statements to mean I blame my mother and father for my actions.  I do not.  They did absolutely everything they knew how to raise me.  they could only do what they thought right.  So, what did they do?  They taught us to be “believing” Christians.  NOT obedient Christians.

People – there is a huge difference.  The difference between your soul perishing & dyeing [sic] forever or your soul living on and on.  Immortal.  Everlasting.

What would you choose?

Well, Im [sic] certain that though at times my mother and father didn’t [sic] approve of my actions and maybe my father was more strict in his discipline than other dads at times Im [sic] certain that they never wanted nor do they want their sons [sic] soul to die.  To jump into the lake of fire.  Forever.  Just like Im [sic] sure there are not many other parents who wish that on their children.

So what is the problem you ask?  Well, the problem is that if you have parented or are currently parenting a child or a young adult and your [sic] not teaching them obedience to God then you are failing to save their souls.  In turn breeding further corruption.

And Im [sic] certain that there are many that are reading this that shake their head saying “Not me, Im [sic] a great parent and I go to church.”  Well, going to church and not cussing and many other “acts” don’t [sic] line up with the word obedient. [sic]

Love God with all your heart.  Love your neighbor.

How do you act when you see a mother in a grocery store and her children are out of control?  Do you roll your eyes in judgment?  As an obedient Christian, should you not approach her and ask if you can help?  Or pray for her as you watch and ask God to bring on the Spirit of Gentleness and patience and peace.

When someone cuts you off in traffic how do you react?

When someone wrongs you or someone you know how do you react?

I know how Monroe County acts (had to pay it) but how do a so called obedient Christian fail to Love.  Fail to forgive.  Fail to be peaceful.

Simple.  They have been taught to believe and put on the Christian show.  And that is why we followers of Christ get such a bad name.

I am guilty as charged as well until 8 months ago.  A story that I will tell in a book someday.

We as followers must teach the non-believers and the believers how to be obedient.

If you take a bribe or break the law or use the legal system to your gain as an officer, a judge, a law maker, are you an obedient Christian?  No.  If you are a judge and you are putting in your own personal mindset into passing judgment or worried about what the community will think in passing your judgment, are you an obedient follower of Christ? No.

If you cheat on taxes? No.

Speed? Nope.

Lie?  No.

Cheat no matter how small?  Nope.

Act in anger and wrath?  No.

If your [sic] lazy?  No.

Let me vent a bit.  When I and a female left Loudon County and took off to later be caught out West how many of you prayed for us.  That God move on our hearts?  That satan and his Angels get out of our lives?

How many prayed for my children or my parents?

I didn’t [sic] read any prayers online but I read alot [sic] of hate.  Anger.  Judgment.  Welcome to Bible belt Tennessee.

I love Tennessee but although I met many individuals whom [sic] are good people I have come to the realization that in the belt or not, there are just as many non obedient [sic] Christians here as anywhere on the planet.

So what do we do?

Lets [sic] start by looking up the word obedient. [sic]  Of which says simply to obey.  So go to obey. [sic]

Obey \o – ba e-\

  1. To follow the commands or guidance of
  2. To act in agreement with

Ut oh…see where Im [sic] going with this?  Lets [sic] expand.  1. To be an obedient Christian one but [sic] follow the commands and guidance of Christ.  2.  To be an obedient Christian you must act in agreement with Christ.

We must walk as Christ walked or you and I fall short of saving our souls.

Some say all we must do is believe and confess.

Well let me say this, if you truly believed God came down in human form, died for your sins, raised up [sic] 3 days later and left the Holy Spirit for ya – you’d be so scared of Him coming back to judge you that you would get obedient right now!

Don’t [sic] just say you believe.  Analyze what your [sic] confessing to believe and if you believe then get obedient to what you claim.  Anything short of this is…..

Corrupt.  Corruption of your mind, heart, soul.  The laws on both sides, the law breakers and makers.  Its [sic] double mindedness. [sic]

How can we as the people redeem our Nation from the corrupt?

We have to start at home.  With our youth.  We cannot just whine about it or talk about it.  We must start building foundations in our children.  In our self. [sic]

You may ask why I put so much emphasis on Christ and Christianity to redeem our Nation?

Our Nation was built on Christian beliefs.  Our Constitution was framed on it.  The Declaration of Independence, [sic] Bill of Rights.  All framed on God.
