Bombshell: FBI Does not Investigate Candidates for Office

(Jul. 18, 2012) — Last night, in an Associated Press report on the press conference held by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Joe Arpaio was quoted as having said that he was “positive” that Obama’s long-form birth certificate is “fraudulent.”

In an initial press conference on March 1, 2012, Arpaio and Zullo, lead investigator of the Cold Case Posse charged with looking into the authenticity of the image, had stated that there was “probable cause” to believe that the image presented as a certified copy of the birth record held by the Hawaii Department of Health was a “computer-generated forgery.”

Following yesterday’s press conference, CBS News published a report with a close-up of the birth certificate image showing the markings to which Zullo had referred during the presentation.

At its conclusion, Arpaio called upon a federal law enforcement authority to advance the investigation his office has carried out to date.

This morning, The Post & Email contacted the Washington, DC headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and asked to speak with a duty agent.  We were asked if we had spoken to the FBI before, to which we answered “yes.”  We were told there were no duty agents at the administrative headquarters and were told to call 202-278-2000 to speak with a media representative at the field office.  The person there transferred us to the Public Affairs Office.  We spoke with a female, presenting our question this way:

Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio held a second press conference yesterday during which he stated that the long-form birth certificate image presented to the public on April 27, 2011 is “definitely” a forgery.  Is the FBI going to take any action on this?

The woman told us that we needed to speak with someone at “headquarters.”  When we said we had already called there and been told to call the Field Office, we were given the number 202-324-3691, which we then called.

We reached a man who identified himself and stated that he was aware of Arpaio’s press conference and its outcome.

The Post & Email asked him what, if anything, the FBI planned on doing with the Maricopa County findings, he first said, “It’s a state document.”  We then asked if that meant that the FBI had no jurisdiction, and he said, “It’s a matter of what the sheriff is going to do with the document.”  He then suggested that Arpaio’s information might be given to a U.S. attorney.  When we responded that all of the U.S. attorneys work for Obama, he said that we should contact the Department of Justice, although he acknowledged that the FBI is part of the Department of Justice.

“If the DOJ won’t prosecute, you should contact your member of Congress,” he added.

Stunningly, he then stated that the FBI does not perform background checks on any candidates for political office and never has.  “We investigate only cabinet positions,” he said, “and that is by presidential directive, not by law.”  We responded, “So a felon could run for office and be elected without the people’s knowledge?” to which he responded, “That’s right.”

He added that the FBI does not “have the resources to address” the allegation that Obama’s long-form birth certificate is a forgery.  He stated that the FBI investigates “very serious crimes.”

When The Post & Email asked if he had ever heard that “Obama” might be a false identity, he said, “No, I’m unaware of that.”
