(Sep. 11, 2026) — “Waltz in A Minor” (2:37)
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the ‘Pulse of the Nation,’ the place to hear it here first. Our featured guest is a rather interesting government employee, someone none of us ever gave a thought to, but someone rather important just the same. Please tell the audience your name and what your job is.”
“This is a rather shabby studio. A sheet for a backdrop?”
“It’s a quality sheet, made in America. Please tell us what you do for a living.”
“Okay, I work for the Interstate Highway System, the IHS.”
“That’s nice. You mind telling us what you do for the IHS?”
“Glad to. I design the welcoming signs.”
“Well, that’s nice. We’re always glad to have a featured guest being so open and informative. Thank you, for sure.”
“Oh, okay. I design the first sign that the motorists see, such as ‘Welcome to Illinois’ or ‘Welcome to Montana.’”
“But you added something, didn’t you?”
“But not only me; the whole crew did.”
“Go on.”
“Well, the whole crew got together and decided we could do some good besides telling the motorists where they are. It started off by adding the number of COVID deaths, such as ‘WELCOME TO MONTANA. COVID DEATHS: 313.’ Just recently, we added another statistic: ‘ANGEL MOMS: 550.’ Kind-of like a word of warning, a public service message.”
“I understand quite a few Democrat politicians are freaking out about your signs. They’re complaining you’re muddying the waters.”
“Just stating the truth, nothing added. And let me remind your audience that defacing an Interstate road sign is a federal offense, so please don’t touch the signs unless they want to pay a hefty fine and spend a couple of years in a federal prison.”
“Well, turned out to be a good interview after all. Thank you for joining us. And thank you, dear audience, for learning something new and beneficial. God bless you, one and all. Goodnight.”
