(May 31, 2026) — A Canadian mother paralyzed after taking a Moderna COVID-19 booster is to speak with the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation (VSRF) Tuesday night.
Launched in early 2021 by internet entrepreneur and philanthropist Steve Kirsch, the VSRF states it “provides rigorous, independent evaluation of vaccines and pharmaceutical products, protects the freedom to make informed medical decisions, and gives vital support to the vaccine injured.”
The non-profit has interviewed attorneys, physicians, scientists and nurses who spoke out early and often in response to government-imposed lockdowns, mandatory vaccination and lack of informed consent in medical treatments.
Kirsch has been a featured speaker at multiple “medical freedom” conferences to bring attention to the widespread loss of freedoms resulting from the declared COVID-19 “pandemic.”
Kayla received two Pfizer COVID vaccines without incident. However, after taking the Moderna booster on January 11, 2022, she developed what was later identified as transverse myelitis, which results from spinal-cord inflammation. Unable to use her limbs, Kayla was no longer able to co-parent her young son or earn a living.
The Canadian government was subsequently very slow to provide the vital services she needed, Kayla has related.
On February 22, 2024, advocates for Kayla Pollock filed a $45 million lawsuit against Moderna in an effort to obtain compensation for “physical, emotional, and psychological damages, loss of past and future income, future cost of care, pain and suffering, as well as aggravated and punitive damages.”
Shortly thereafter Kayla’s story was featured in an interview with The Canadian Independent during which she described her ordeal. She has also interviewed with Tammy Peterson; Canadian attorney Viva Frei and Dr. Drew; Dr. Mark Trozzi, with a reprint at the online journal Science, Public Health Policy and the Law founded by James Lyons-Weiler, PhD; The Mary Zilba Podcast; and City Life magazine.
Kayla has shared her story with React19.org, founded by Dr. Joel Wallskog and Brianne Dressen, both of whom are COVID-19 vaccine-injured. Wallskog, too, was diagnosed with transverse myelitis and can no longer practice medicine due to his disability.
On May 28, Kayla wrote on her X account:
My lawsuit against Moderna is now in the disclosure stage in Ontario Superior Court.
For years people said cases like mine would never make it this far.
Now I have audio from a SECOND neurologist confirming my paralysis was caused by the Covid vaccine.
The truth is getting harder to ignore.

Formerly a very active single mother, large-animal trainer and teaching assistant, Kayla lost her ability to move and experienced constant pain after receiving the Moderna booster. During a monthslong stay at a rehabilitation center, Kayla told the outlet, she was offered medical assistance in dying (MAID) twice, which she refused.
According to Canada’s Department of Justice, “Medical assistance in dying (MAID) is a complex and deeply personal issue. The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring our laws reflect Canadians’ needs, protect those who may be vulnerable, and support autonomy and freedom of choice.”
Of MAID, HealthCanada’s website states:
Eligibility
To be eligible for medical assistance in dying, you must meet all the following criteria. You must:
- be eligible for health services funded by a province or territory, or the federal government
- You may also be eligible if you meet your province or territory’s minimum period of residence or waiting period.
- be at least 18 years old and mentally competent
- This means being capable of making health care decisions for yourself.
- have a grievous and irremediable medical condition
- make a voluntary request for medical assistance in dying
- The request cannot be the result of outside pressure or influence.
- give informed consent to receive medical assistance in dying
Kayla is more recently a patient at the WalkItOffCentre of Newmarket, Ontario, and has become an outspoken advocate for the vaccine-injured.
On February 21 of this year, Kayla posted on X:
Four years ago today
was the last day I ever:
Walked
Stood in the shower
Got dressed on my own
Used a catheter and nurse.
The next morning, I woke up paralyzed from the neck down.
No fall.
No accident.
No surgery gone wrong.
Just sleep.
And then everything changed forever
I didn’t know it was the last time.
If your body works today,
don’t assume it always will.
I fight now for those who don’t know that may have to, and for those of us caught in the cracks now.
