(May 6, 2026) — On Wednesday morning President Trump indicated that the conflict with Iran could be coming to an imminent close.
For more than two months, the U.S. has conducted a military and economic initiative, Operation Epic Fury, aimed at convincing the regime to give up its ambition to develop a nuclear weapon, something it was reportedly close to perfecting when Israeli and U.S. missile strikes began on February 28.
On April 13, Trump imposed a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to prevent Iranian ships from exporting oil and other goods, crushing Iran’s economy, which was already in freefall at the end of last year.
The devaluation of its currency led to rare mass protests in the Islamic Republic, which has ruled over its people with an iron fist since seizing power from the Shah in 1979.
According to Iran International, the regime responded to the protests by employing its Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to murder 36,500 in January alone.
The blockade also prevents all deliveries to the rogue nation which Trump frequently maintains has been a threat to the United States and the world for “47 years.”
“Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday morning, “which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran. If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
On Tuesday, Trump reported “Great Progress” was being made toward an agreement he would accept and announced he was pausing “Project Freedom,” launched the day prior, in which the U.S. was securing safe passage through the Strait for ships from nations uninvolved with the conflict.
The suspension of the Project Freedom, Trump said, was “to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed.”
Nevertheless, “the Blockade will remain in full force and effect” during the pause, which he indicated would be “short.”
This is a developing story.
