(Nov. 13, 2025) — On November 6 “The Highwire” released an episode titled, “The Doctors Who Fought Back” in which founder Del Bigtree interviewed Drs. Suzanne Humphries, Andrew Wakefield and Pierre Kory, all of whom questioned the COVID-19 “vaccine” rollout and its aftermath.

The discussion, which lasted over an hour, touched on the government’s onetime definition of gain-of-function research; its unwillingness to investigate the origins of the virus dubbed COVID-19; the banning of ivermectin as a means of treatment; the safety or lack thereof of vaccines; “suppressed medicines” such as chlorine dioxide, according to Kory; the sudden deaths observed after the release of COVID-19 injections, particularly in young people; and the role of functional medicine in treating disease.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield

In 1998 Wakefield, a gastroenterologist and researcher whose parents were both physicians, was the main contributor to a medical paper published in The Lancet suggesting a connection between 12 autistic children with gastroenterological problems and the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. In a press conference announcing the results of his research, Wakefield recommended that vaccines for the three diseases be administered to children singly.

A medical and media maelstrom followed in which Wakefield was labeled a fraud and opportunist for his claims. In 2010, his his license to practice was revoked by the medical board in his native Great Britain.

He refuted the board’s decision and findings that he had committed “fraud” through the perpetration of a “hoax” with the expectation of benefiting financially. Finally, in 2012, his appeal to overturn the finding of “professional misconduct” was granted.

Wakefield went on to become a film producer, with “Who Killed Alex Spourdalakis?” released in 2015; “Vaxxed,” co-written by Bigtree, produced the following year; “Vaxxed II: The People’s Truth” in 2019; “1986: The Act” (2020), referring to the law passed by Congress protecting vaccine manufacturers from liability; and “Protocol 7” released last year.

His name continues to be maligned in the press.

Dr. Pierre Kory

Kory is a co-founder of the FLCCC, now known as the Independent Medical Alliance (IMA), which constructed an early protocol for treatment of COVID-19 and has expanded to non-traditional cancer research involving prevention and treatment.

In 2023 Kory departed the FLCCC to launch a private practice, Leading Edge Clinic, treating COVID-19 “long haul” and vaccine injuries, metabolic health, pulmonary conditions, adjunctive cancer treatment, and “complex medical conditions,” among others.

He has addressed legislative committees regarding his research on the pandemic and ivermectin and co-authored a book on the drug titled, “War on Ivermectin: The Medicine That Saved Millions and Could Have Ended the Pandemic” for which Bigtree wrote the foreword.

Kory, too, paid a high price for questioning the mainstream COVID narrative and promoting alternative treatments. Last year the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) revoked its certification of Kory and Dr. Paul Marik, another FLCCC co-founder who objected to COVID-19 medical-establishment protocols and retired his Virginia medical license in 2022.

“A Washington Post investigation found that physicians who spread misinformation faced few repercussions, as a weak system of medical boards failed to penalize them,” Post reporters Lauren Weber and McKenzie Beard wrote on August 13, 2024 of Kory and Marik’s loss of ABIM certification. “My colleagues Lena H. SunHayden Godfrey and I found that medical board disciplinary records showed two other doctors alleged to be following the Alliance’s guidance (not Kory or Marik) were accused of substandard medical care after three patients died.

“The Board is trying to step into that gap, said its president and CEO, Richard Baron, to help the public differentiate between doctors who follow medical consensus and those spreading misinformation,” the writers asserted. “…Some experts argue consequences should have come sooner.”

Just over a year ago, Marik and Kory joined a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Texas by the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) against the ABIM, two other medical boards and then-HHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “concerning their unprecedented campaign to censor speech and retaliate against those who express views disfavored by Defendants.”

Kory maintains a Substack where he has shared his recent delving into “mineral science,” the use of “repurposed drugs” in cancer treatment, and the causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Dr. Suzanne Humphries

Suzanne Humphries’ biography states she “is a medical doctor certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and nephrology. She worked in the conventional medical system from 1989 until 2011, when she left her hospital position in good standing. Since that time, Dr Humphries has been furthering her research into the medical literature on vaccines, immunity, history, and functional medicine.”

In 2013, she co-authored the book “Dissolving Illusions: Disease, Vaccines, and The Forgotten History.” In March she was a guest on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and has appeared on programs by Children’s Health Defense (CHD), a non-profit founded by Kennedy.

Del Bigtree

A former television producer, Del Bigtree is host of “The Highwire” and founder of the non-profit Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN). He is an active public speaker on health freedom. He was communications director for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s 2024 presidential run which was suspended in August that year when Kennedy decided to support Republican Donald J. Trump. Trump would later nominate Kennedy to serve as HHS secretary to which Kennedy was sworn in on February 13.
